I received this as a gift and thought, "oh, how lovely" until we put it together. Although the step stool is 13+" high, the top step is less than 10" off the floor. Wearing substantial shoes I can barely fit one on the bottom step, as it so shallow that my foot must be half under the top step to use it safely. As is shown in the photos, it is a lovely step stool for children to use...in bare feet.It's beautifully made - the wood has an interesting grain, it's well cut, sanded and finished. It's lovely and useless.

I love it perfect for helping me getting into bed. I am 68 years old and have back and leg problem getting in and out of bed. This bench is perfect height to step on .
