Many of the reviews mentioned this unit wobbles. That is simply because there is a height adjustment pin (pulls outward to free the seat to be moved up and down) and there is ALSO a knurled locking knob, which you must tighten after adjustment. If you don't tighten it up after adjustment, the seat will wobble. Another cited problem is people saying it does not rotate... Again, there is an upper knob that must be loosened in order to rotate the seat. Last thing.. oil the working parts for smooth operation, as others have suggested.

Works perfectly with the Wise seat.

This pedestal is very sturdy and works really well. I have this on the drivers captains chair of a pontoon and it works great. It is really hard to lift when I want it to be raised. My only wish is that it would have a spring assist in it so it would raise you up automatically. Then if you put pressure on it you could lower it.

Very well made product. Easy to install. I really like the height adjustment, swivel, and forward and backward smooth operation.

This was great. Changed out a standard seat post in a picture room because I needed more height and tired of kneeling. It fit original holes and did change while it was in the water at dock. Easy on a pontoon and a helper above. Fit both boat floor and seat exactly same as original.

I recently replaced my boat pedestal on my Bayliner Trophy with one of these Wise adjustable. The pedestal looked and feels like a great quality product. The install was very easy as I changed and upgraded my existing bolts to new SS lag bolts. The pedestal was very sturdy on the floor however once I installed the seats to the base mount and placed it on the post it didn’t feel like the quality it looked. At the pedestals lowest setting with everything tightened and adjusted, the seat had barely any wobble or play to it. BUT when raising the pedestal to its highest mounting position, it was HORRIBLE. There’s so much movement even tightening the adjustment knob to its tightest position was still wobbly. I inspected the pedestal and noticed the play came from both the inner adjustable post as well as the sliding seat base. The sliding seat base has teeth that lock the base in place and there is space within each groove which gives the seat a forward and back movement. Let’s just say it’s not the most sturdiest seat base mount on the market.I’m sure this entire seat pedestal setup is good for those looking for a low seat level but for those looking to set this at its highest level, it’s not for you.

I have not installed these in the boat I'm restoring yet, with that said here are my observations.Well made, all screws, knobs, slides, locks, and hardware seem like they will work properly. I do not think there will be a problem with the adjustable pin coming out and seat dropping to the lowest setting like another reviewer posted. If used correctly and knobs are tightened properly it appears like it will hold tight. My complaint is that although the adjustable seat post is 12" to 18"...when you add the seat mount/swivel it adds another 2" to the overall height...14"-20" before adding the seat. In my application that was too high, my feet barely reached the floor (no I do not have short legs) and my girlfriend's feet did not reach the floor. I solved this problem by removing 2-3/4" from both seat post shafts, drilling four new holes, and retapping the knob screws and the inner limit screw. This requires some mechanical skill and took about 3 hours. The first picture is original and revised in the lowest setting. The second picture is original in the lowest and revised in the highest setting. the third picture is material that was removed (note: 4 outer holes did not need to be duplicated in revision). No mounting screws included, but I did not expect any since everyone's application is different and stainless screws are expensive. All in all, I think these will work fine now that the height is proper for my application.

I ordered 2 pedestals, they arrived early and are exactly as described. They appear well engineered, they rotate, they slide forward and back and the up and down features are smooth and and all adjustments lock positively. Because the built in seat base slides forward and back on the pedestal, it is long enough that no adapter plate was needed to bolt directly to the mounting points on our seats. Something to consider when ordering a pedestal is the cost of the adapter plate which is probably not needed with this pedestal. So far, we are very pleased.

Great pedestal. I bought it to go with a seamander captain's chair and it fit perfectly. The ability to move the seat forward/backward, up/down, and rotate it all on this one pedestal without adding attachments was a big selling point for me. I read some comments about whether it was or wasnt able to rotate, and not sure what the people that said it does not were doing, but it absolutely does, and with no wobble either. I am over 200lbs and it works nicely. As one review said, oil the slide before use, as it will be a little sticky out of the box (and I am sure that is intentional, who wants to get a box that is covered in oil run off?) . The ONLY negative I have about this is it did NOT come with ANY hardware for attaching to the seat or boat floor. The seat I bought had screws to attach so that was not an issue, but since this is replacing the ugly old back to back fold down seats in my boat, I had to buy screws to mount it to the floor. I am guessing it did not come with hardware because some people use lag screws and some are able to use bolts to mount to the floor. For my application I had to use lag screws. Works like a champ! I would highly recommend this pedestal even over some of the much more expensive ones. I don't need the hydrolic lift and sure don't need to pay twice the price for it. I adjusted the seat to the height I want it and haven't had to move it once, nor do I expect to, but if I do, its a simple matter of pulling a pin and sliding it up or down.

I purchased this seat pedestal for my 2001 StarCraft Aurora 21 foot deck boat. It installed very easily in approximately 20 minutes. Be sure you have a REALLY good, large, Phillips screw driver and then a good electric drill with Phillips bit. The screws that go into the deck are substantial and mine were in very solid. They are also quite long. The base and the pedestal are one piece. The piece that mounts onto the seat is a separate piece. When installation is complete the seat just sits down on the pedestal. You can remove the seat for winter storage by simply loosening the rotation knob and lifting straight up. The seat rotates 360 degree, height is adjustable, rotation can be slowed or locked down with a knob and height is locked down with a pull out knob. The unit is solid and quality is excellent. The design is simple and all moving parts are visible and easily accessible for inspection, lubrication, etc. The design was far superior to the broken OEM pedestal I was replacing.
