The Electric Range Surface Burner Control Switch serves as a replacement part, operating your appliance's surface element by turning it on and off and regulating its heat intensity. This switch (also called the infinite switch) sends voltage to the surface element coil. If your element remains at high heat or doesn't turn on at all, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. This high-quality, durable replacement part is easy to install with basic hand tools, such as a multi-screwdriver, needle-nose pliers, and standard pliers. It only requires some disassembly of the range and novice repair experience. Before installing this part, remember to unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker to ensure safety.

The original part is no longer available so this is the new replacement. The problem is there is no diagram or instructions on how to rewire and install. It is a different design from original part. Also first part ordered was defective so had to replace and install again.

If you have a two burner Jenn-Air electric grill and one side stops working, you have to replace BOTH control switches with this new model or the breaker will kick off when you turn on power. The old switch wiring sequence is not compatible with the new version. H2 goes to HC, etc.

so yes, this did fix the problem on our cooktop -- which has 2 cartridges with 2 burners each.for ours the CORRECT wiring was as follows -- L1 to L1, L2 to L2, P to P, OLD H1 to NEW HC, OLD H2 to NEW H1.i've read so many sites where it doesn't mention having to swap the "H" connections, but we most definitely had too. i even found a wiring diagram for this switch, and it wasn't mentioned there either.also, we had to replace BOTH switches for the left side cartridge. when i only replaced one, the breaker tripped.i spent several hours researching this before i decided to try swapping the connections, and that was definitely the trick . . . along with replacing BOTH switches.

Quality part that I used to repair a Jenn Aire Stove, a manufacturer that Whirl pool bought out and supplies repair parts. So glad Whirlpool still supports Jenn Aire. Kept me from having to replace our Jenn Aire, which is 40 years old and still looks and operates great.

Since the switch is a Robertshaw MPA-W478-WPM. Searching this part no. online reveals that H2 should indeed connect to HC. Hope that helps.

If replacing an old (Jennaire in my case) part, the new switch is smaller and the connections in a different orientation. Pay attention to the labels from old to new: L1 to L1, L2 to L2, P to P, H1 to H1, and H2 to HC. So nice to have a new switch - works better than the old one did when it was new.

Problem is that the part that arrived does not look at all like the picture on the website. The W11120791 is a replacement part for the 7403P02-60 that failed. The website does say "This is a manufacturer substitution. Part may differ in appearance but is a functional equivalent to prior parts" and that turns out to be correct. However, the configuration of the pins and the labelling of the pins differ. Specifically, on the original part there are pins H1 and H2. On the replacement: H1 and HC. Now it may seem obvious that H2 is like HC, but i wasn't going to apply 240V to the thing unless I had assurance of this. Customer service was prompt and cheerful but unhelpful, so i planned to return the part and buy one locally. But then I thought I'd try searching again on-line for the pin equivalences....and sure enough i found a couple of sources to confirmed clearly that H2 and HC are the same functionally. I did the replacement and the part works as it should. I hope that this review will save other purchasers the aggravation and lost time I experienced.
