We used this for the floor mainly to take the finish off the wood. It made it smooth and it worked well at first. The pads dullen rather quickly so have a lot of extras. A palm sander works better at times but is more tiring. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again. Renting an industrial one would probably work 10x better and faster so keep that in mind if you are on the fence on which way to go. For the walls, it would work fine. There is still dust quite a bit actually but the dust collection is helpful.
