Massive upgrade over a metal strap button. Looks better and holds the strap much better.

This button looks nice, and comes with a brass insert (to supposedly keep you from overtightening and cracking the wood) and a screw. It does NOT come with a felt washer, which it should. The felt washer might have helped prevent the rim/edge from cracking during installation. After carefully drilling the hole and mounting the button, carefully screwing it in by hand (never use an electric screwdriver for this) the button made a soft "crackle" and the bottom rim of the button had split. I hadn't even quite snugged it down yet! As others have noted, ebony is a very hard and dense wood, and small pieces are prone to cracking and splitting. Buyer beware. This isn't so much an issue of workmanship as it is the inherent properties of the material the button is made of. You might want to opt for a metal strap button or a different wood.

This is a really good quality piece of kit. Well designed and looks great. You just need to be aware that this is Ebony. Ebony is very hard and brittle. If the base of the peg doesn't sit perfectly flat on the area of the heel you're screwing it to it will 100% break pieces off. It needs to sit flat. If you're not confident you're going to be able to get this flat and level you need to buy a steel button. The only thing I'll ding this product for is they don't tell you what I just did. There are zero directions. People need to understand Ebony is almost like glass in small pieces like this. It's VERY hard/brittle.Other than that, it's a bit expensive. But every piece is quality. So it's worth it.

Replaced the stock button on a Taylor 816 with this. It looks beautiful and works just great. It is slightly smaller than the original, which makes attaching the strap easier, but without any danger of it falling off accidentally. Great accent and matches the fretboard and bridge. Also got some ebony tuner buttons and this was the missing touch. Just beautiful

My strap button broke when I was installing it. I have installed dozens of buttons before but this is the first to break right away. I made sure not to nm over tighten it but the lip at the bottom still broke. I just took away the whole lip with sandpaper and used it anyway.

This is the real deal. A Waverly ebony heel strap button that will last as long as the guitar. Looks great installed and sturdy as can be. After drilling the hole, I recommend using a chaser to cut the threads as I wouldn't recommend using the screw furnished to cut the wood for the first time. Don't want to break the heel wood. Be slow and careful and you'll be glad you did.

Like copper washer combined with impeccable craftsmanship. Waiverly and worth it. Placing a strap button on instrument worth a few thousand means one wants no chance of failure. $10 to ensure top quality material and workmanship is no brainer.

The button is great. I dislike how soft the screw was. Ended up mangling it with VERY little effort, so it lost one star by me for having a junk screw, which is a slightly odd size from what i'm used to. Such an expensive button, but it looks great. I've gotten 2$ strap buttons and they came with nice screws. I'd still get these again. They're pretty.. Just I'm not personally using the supplied screw in the future.
