Its fun however I can see burning out this motor in a short period of time. I own a house with lots of mature trees and this may not be enough power. I believe if you are a townhouse / condo owner that is into gardening this product is great for turning small branches into smaller chips for either mulch / ground cover or easier disposal.

Overall, I've been happy with this machine so far. I used it to clear a backlog of stick waste from pruning trees and shrubs around my yard. I was taking that stuff to the dump, where they went into municipal compost. But I needed some mulch around my yard anyway, so this makes my garden more self-sufficient.PRO:- Simple to operate- Light and easy to carry to my basement for service and storage- Relatively quiet (use hearing protection, but doesn't bother the neighbors much)- Cut through everything I expected it toCON:- The assembly instructions were pretty terrible; I figured it out anyway, but they were completely missing steps- It's a bit top-heavy during operation... sometimes wants to tip sideways while feeding in long stuff- The output side of the machine could be improved (more below)My first real issue with the machine was that the screws for the blades seemed to be over-tightened in the factory. I could not free them by hand, even with WD-40 and a lot of patience. In the end, I had to borrow an impact wrench from a neighbor to get them off without stripping the heads. The instructions show hand tools being used, so I don't believe this was expected. The only material I've thrown at this machine that it could not handle so far, was some dry pine branches that someone asked my to chip as a favor. This is where the "output design" problem came in on my points above. The dry needles passed through the cutter, but would not clear the output chute without jamming-up. I suspect working with long pine needles would have gone better if they were fresh and green, but this stuff was very dry and brown. On a more positive note, getting replacement blades was easier once I noticed that many other brands have a completely identical cutter assembly. Look at the picture for most of the chipper blades on Amazon that are for the same sized branches, and you'll see that the cutting disc is exactly the same.

My last shredder from a different brand lasted 7 years before it broke down and the blades were still sharp. The blades on this shredder were eaten up in the first 4 hours of use and I can’t find a source to buy replacements. The 4 provided blades will only last one season. In addition, the instructions seem to be written for a previous model. The included carbon bushing replacements are not in the manual at all so I have no idea where they go or how to install them. On the plus side, the machine didn’t jam a single time.

We have a wisteria vine that grows like crazy every summer. It is up on a large arbor. It must be trimmed back every year to avoid collapsing the whole thing. In the past we have used a ladder and cut the big pieces down and then re-cut them and then stuffed them in the green bin over a period of weeks. It is a lot of work. This chipper was the perfect tool for the job and rendered the whole thing into chips that went out all at once. A huge time saver, and worth every penny if we only ever use it for this annual job. That you'll have no trouble with vines up to about an inch in diameter. The longer pieces worked even better and once you got them started, the machine pulled the vine all the way in. It was not as noisy as expected. Over a two day. It worked flawlessly.

I am using this to mulch up tree branches that are about as thick as a ping pong ball and as long as 8 feet. It works well but if the limbs have branches coming out to the side you may have to cut them off or break them if they do not easily bend. Sometimes I css as n just twist the branch and it will go through without cutting off the sides

Don't often write reviews but I am very impressed with this unit. It does exactly as stated and was a champ today as it gave me 5 full bags of excellent mulch. Only had to open it twice in the two hour garden cleanup session both time because I put in a branch that was way above the recommended size. Even then the issue was the thick part got stuck on the way down not that it could not chop it up. A great buy and arrived next day just in time for some great weather to finish the garden.

I think this is a very good unit.I sent this equipment through wood chipping hell and it is still running.( knives have been sharpend a dozen times to get this pile )Keep the knives sharp and give it a powerful electrical receptical ( 20amp) and a heavy duty extension cord (12 gauge ).Buckthorn, maple and cedar are no problem, but be careful on the locust.Happy Gardening.
