this down rod is a little thicker than the one I’m replacing. The diameter larger and didn’t fit the ceiling fan i was trying to install.

This is a universal style downrod - used with your fan hanging bracket, and your standard ceiling fan. This does not include the upper ball mount, or any pins required to install. Use this to replace your smaller, existing rod in your fan kit.Overall, this downrod is just as good as the models sold for 25% more at the big box stores. I did not expect it to have wire already installed - that is a bonus. Although, the wire quality was not sufficient for my install, I will replace it with a higher quality 14 gauge solid copper. It will work for most standard fans without issues - I personally prefer having a quality wire whenever I can.Both ends of the road have the holes bored for your pin installation. These rods can be modified - you can cut them to the length you need, and bore your own pin holes. I recommend this if you need a specific length - buy the long one and modify yourself.
