Velleman 7 W mono audio amplifier is constructed around the Tda2003 ic, capable of delivering 4Wrms at 4 ohms. The ic is fully protected against overheating and short circuits. A conventional direct current is sufficient as power supply.
specifications: music power output: 7W/4ohm, rms output: 3.5W/ 4ohm or 2W/8ohm, total harmonic distortion: 0.05 percent (1W/ 1Khz), frequency response: 20hz to 20Khz (-3dB), signal/noise ratio: 86dB (a weighted), input sensitivity: 40Mv/150kOhm, overload and short-circuit protected, supply voltage: 15Vdc (8 to 18Vdc possible)/0.5A. Measures 5.5 cm length by 3.5 cm width.
Set Contains:
1 x Mono Audio Amplifier

The kit was missing a resistor and the schematic to put it together. It was packaged that way.

Same kit available at very different prices! Strange. Are they all the same? I get the feeling that I paid too much! In addition, the main reason for my 3-Star rating, is that the number of components required to complete this kit. I have had difficulty tracking-down some of the components, some of which seem to be scarce (?), and some expensive. Would be nice if a complete kit was available.

Took me about half an hour to build, but I have been building kits since I was a kid. I can see a problem area if you don't have a Multimeter for the resistors. They give you a chart, but it doesn't cover Gold bands in the middle, but meter read them, although tolerance was a bit off, but process of elimination confirmed the one in question. I had a blown 1W audio IC chip in a radio, the volume control was before the input, rather than wait a week or more for a chip I got this in 2 days with Prime. I used the 10.5 Volt Vcc to the blown chip and it worked 100% perfect! I was worried it would be to powerfull, but it's just the same, may have a little extra headroom to turn it up with less distortion. In my case this was for a MFJ-9406 6M Ham radio, and it also lowered the tone on the SSB hiss a added benefit in my case. I give it 3-4 Stars for the Resistor issue, and 5 for being a cool simple little kit... Photo shows it installed in right back of radio...

I ordered this to see if it makes a decent guitar amp. It does. I get a very respectable volume into an 8 ohm speaker from a pp3 9 volt battery, all fitted into a very small cigar box.

Very slick little utility amp. I built two for fill-in sound in the choir loft of our church. I run them on wall-glob 9 v. DC pwr. supplies. I've bought a couple more to build a simple stereo amplifier. Audio quality is really clean, and these puppies crank out a lot of clean, undistorted sound. Fellow Broadcast Engineers might find these especially handy as cue amplifiers, or for driving monitor speakers in office areas or small production studios. I love these guys...

This is a fun little Velleman kit. I used it to amplify the output from an electronic keyer for practicing CW. I ran the output into a 4 ohm speaker so I have more than enough volume even when powered by a 9 V battery. I may have to swap out the 50 k-ohm variable resister for another type to control the volume better. The Velleman kit was complete, the quality was excellent, and the instructions were clear. I will definitely shop for Velleman kits again.

Very easy to solder together, even if like me you're far from expert, with clear instructions that also outline how to build a suitable PSU and add a volume control (you'll also need a 47k ohm log. potentiometer) if required. Hooked it up to the 12v line on my PSU, and the results are great - clear and surprisingly loud.

Easy to build. Sound is clear, bass good, highs fine, nice to listen to in my Raspberry Pi internet radio. Happy with purchase.

This is a nice project to get your feet wet in the world of diy electronics!Other than breadboard tutorials (ala arduino starter kit(s)) and a step down dc power converter (from a schematic), this was my first diy electronics project. It was a breeze to build and the end product kicks butt! ; pI am using it to power a "Boss BRS40 4" Dual Cone Replacement Speaker" coupled with a "DS18 DS-TWR15 200 Watts Micro Dome Tweeter" (both available on Amazon) all mounted in a nice wooden box. I am having noise issues with this set up when it is powered up and no input is plugged in. I think that I can rectify this with a resistor or a diode installed onto one of the poles of the input jack.Other than the "hummm" noise issue describe above, I highly recommend this kit!

I bought this kit to modify an antique radio, and turn it into a mono amplifier for an mp3 player. The instructions are complete, including a diagram to make a power supply, (though I am using a 9v battery rigth now) and how to hook up a 50k pot. I was amazed at how loud the amp is, and how good it sounds for such a cheap kit. I attached it to a 3.5 inch 50w Boss speaker I also bought on amazon. They sound great together, especially when housed in the antique radio.

this little amp was easy to build and it works very well. I am using a 12v wall wart and this amp is LOUD and clear.
