The 3.5 inches in for the screw to screw. If you have a 2.8 inch speaker , this will fit. Get a refund? Ah it costs 12-15 dollars to ship back to Hong Kong AND you have to do international customs online for Hong Kong.It was a useless item for me-my speaker was 3.5 inches. The Winner--the seller. I threw it in the trash and I'm out 15.00.

The product served its purpose by covering a CB speaker hole on an overhead ceiling console fitted to a Toyota 4 x wheel drive, looked good and classy.
