This is a proper plastic mesh bag, great for pond/waterfall pumps. I used some bio-balls to keep the pump from pulling the bag close to the impeller cage, waterfall is just raging on keeping the fish happy on these hot days. Much more durable than the fabric-type bags and the mesh itself is very smooth which helps keep debris from clinging on it.

I ordered this bag in an effort to protect the tiny tadpoles in our pond. The bag that came with our Smart Pond waterfall pump had mesh that wasn’t tightly woven enough to keep the tadpoles from getting sucked into the pump. This bag had been recommended in an online article about tadpoles. As you can see in the pics, this bag (at the bottom of the picture) has a much tighter weave than the pump manufacturer’s bag (top). It might not protect the smallest tadpoles, but it does a great job with the slightly larger ones. I’m very pleased!

I used to have to wash the filter on my pond pump every couple of days because it would get clogged. I haven’t had too since I bought this.

Unless you enjoy mucking about, get one of these on you filter, no more loss of flow and constantly cleaning the intake. Total must have.

Just started using this pump bag. So far so good. Pump is not clogging up like it was before. Seems very durable. Only time will tell!
