After 13 years...apparently my original antenna went through its last trip at the car wash. This is a stubbier antenna. Basically a nice blend of metal and carbon fiberish material. Durable. Kit comes with all the possible reducers and spacers you would need. You just gotta set up the cleanest way youll see fit. I opted to use the spacer to get rid of that slight gap (for moisture reasons).Signal strength is back to factory but it really depends on length of screws youre using also. Worth the $20.

Please note that the description for this "antenna" is very inaccurate. This antenna DOES NOT have an internal copper coil as advertised, rather it has a copper screw. This internal copper screw is not threaded into the antenna base far enough to make contact with the vehicle's internal antenna cable. This leaves an "air gap" between the copper screw and vehicle. In short, this is a "fake" antenna. Please see attached photos for a visual reference. If you are looking for an aesthetic upgrade for your vehicle then this will work fine. If you are looking for a functional antenna, I suggest looking elsewhere.Regarding antenna element length. A quick internet search, regarding FM antenna element length for vehicles, will result in quite a few discussions regarding FM signal at various frequencies and the proper antenna element length to best receive those frequencies. The proper FM antenna element length, for vehicles, is roughly 31 inches. Even if the internal copper screw in this antenna were making contact with the vehicle's internal antenna cable, you can clearly see, in the attached photos, that the internal screw in this antenna is nowhere near that length.

I have bought short antennas before in the past and they’ve never worked very well. I got the 3 inch antenna on this one and this thing looks amazing and it works great. I haven’t lost any signal from any radio station with this short antenna. It’s worth every penny and a highly recommend it.The only complaint that I have is that there is no square area to grab a hold of to tighten with a tool. So you have to do tighten it with your hand. It was pretty difficult. It is so smooth that I could not get a good grip. But I ended up getting a rubber jar opener and taking that rubber pad and wrapping it around the antenna to get a good grip and tightening the antenna with my hand. I got it really tight and it works great.

You do lose some reception, I was tired of my whip antenna moving a ton on the highway and I don’t use the radio all that much anyway. It is just a gold painted screw that threads into where the antenna mounts.

I purchased this to replace the stock one on my 2020 Ford Ranger. The stock antenna is a bit too long and boings on low hanging branches when going off road, so I opted for this stubby. It was easy to install- chose the correct screw and inserted easily with no issues. Got it nice and tight (hand tighten only). Tested it with my local radio stations and all my favorites still work.

I am glad it looks good and was easy to install yet the signal is not strong at all. I actually had better reception with no antenna. I will fiddle with it and maybe drop and enhancer to it but for the price I am OK as I mostly use the radio for the WIFI Bluetooth attachment device I use. That reception works fine.
