Impressive. Solid quality. Stays cool. Includes both USB cables. Includes a heatsink pad; remember to peal the stickers both sides before placing it. Has a bumper screw that locks NVME into place, also includes an extra. Nice removable bumper. Even includes a mini screwdriver so you're all set.I paired it with a 4TB WD Blue SN5000, which I formatted to exFAT, 128K allocation unit size (cluster size). Tested great on Windows and Mac. Surely works great on Linux too.

I can't speak for longevity but it works fine. Well made, compact and attractive. I put an M.2 drive in it that was benchmarking like 20000 w postmark and got 4k. I think w a sata 6gb through put that's all you get. I was able to clone drive w this enclosure.

Updated review: The only real complaint I have about the device itself is I do wish that the actual casing made closer contact with the chip itself. The thermal pad is extremely thick and then the "lid" part has weak contact with the rest of the shell which does reduce heat dissipation somewhat. This might be why one person's drive was thermal cycling (but more likely they had a bad or improperly applied pad such as if they forgot to remove the protective film from both sides.) As a bonus you can easily pull the rubber grip off (and easily get it back on again later) so it doesn't interfere in the passive heat radiation.I want to emphasize here that many of the USB M.2 adapters out there have very bad cooling in comparison. While this isn't perfect, many have very little metal in the housing, poor contact with the chip (one I passed over even had no contact with the chip at all!) or even an entirely plastic housing. While this one could definitely have better contact, it is still one of the best options in its price range in regards to actually cooling the drive so it won't thermal cycle as much. Definitely a good thing if you like your hardware to last.Speed seems to be good. I'm getting the most the M.2 drive I put in it can do out of it, which is all I could possibly ask for. I'm using the USB-C-to-USB-C connector with Thunderbolt enabled in the BIOS and all seems to be going well in that regard. It pretty much works with everything including Windows 10 (not touching 11) and Linux. In regards to getting TRIM working, I figured it out. It seems that the issues I've had with UASP/TRIM are because Linux treats USB devices more like SCSI than, say, SATA, so extra steps are needed to get UASP/TRIM to work. For this device I installed sd_utils (may be called sd-utils on some distros) and I had to put this in /etc/udev/rules.d/10-uas-discard.rules (well, you can give the filename whatever name you want):ACTION=="add|change", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0bda", ATTRS{idProduct}=="9210", SUBSYSTEM=="scsi_disk", ATTR{provisioning_mode}="unmap"Vendor ID and product ID were acquired via usbview but should probably be the same across most if not all of this model. This enables "unmap" for the drive on startup which is basically the SCSI equivalent of discard I'm given to understand.Once I did this I was able to get TRIM working. There is no convenient powerdown I can run myself (normal powerdown commands put it in a confused state where it takes extra long to wake back up or sometimes can error out entirely) but it seems to power down on its own after some time of non-use with easy instant wake if it does, which is sufficient for my needs though I would have enjoyed a more fine-grained control.I'm not sure what, if anything, needs to be done in Windows.

I used this to add a 1TB M2 drive to my Xbox Series X for additional storage replacing an old spinning disk. While you can't run X/S specific games right from the disk the transfer to and from the internal disk is about 2.6Gbps which is phenomenal. It was easy to install the M2, and it's a very solid enclosure, plus the heat transer pad included does transmit the heat to the aluminum of the enclosure.

Given its price, I understand that they cut costs on the length of the USB cord, that's my only drawback. Then again for a laptop user it's perfect length, and cables aren't really expensive.I like the rubber housing a lot, great protection.I fit a Samsung 960PRO 1TB in it, and the transfers run at the advertised 10 Gbps speeds without drops. I copied some large directory trees to and from the device and did binary diffs after, and there were no inconsistencies. The LED gives you power status and blinks on transfer, perfect if you have multiple and need to see what's going on.You can't beat it for the price. I will probably buy a few more down the road.

I recently purchased this NVMe enclosure and have been very impressed with it so far. One of the key features for me was the support of modern Gen 4x4 NVMe SSDs, which provide both incredibly fast data transfer speeds and consistency of transer speeds, much faster than traditional external hard drives or USB flash drives (you could game on this if you'd like). I also appreciated that this enclosure uses a hinge design, rather than slide-in, which allows for better contact between the SSD, included thermal pad, and enclosure for improved heat dissipation (NVMe get hot).TL;DR: I recently purchased an NVMe enclosure that supports fast Gen 4 SSDs. The aluminum case has a premium look and sturdy build. Setup was quick and easy - just unscrew the case, insert the SSD, and screw it back together. I formatted the drive in Disk Management. Though I lack a fast enough cable to test max speeds, the enclosure works great and I'm very impressed with it overall. This is a high quality NVMe enclosure that was easy to setup.Inside the box, the enclosure itself comes neatly packaged along with a silicone protective case, which I appreciated as an extra measure to prevent scratches and add additional drop protection. Though I’ve seen Linus, of LinusTechTips, play basketball with an Intel SSD before and it survived. The aluminum construction feels sturdy and durable. The enclosure has a premium high-quality look and feel to it - a bit more bulky than a basic enclosure but the extra metal likely helps heat dissipation so the SSD doesn't get overly hot (flash storage doesn't mind being a bit hot, also if the enclosure is very warm to the touch that's not necesarily a bad thing).Setup was quick and easy - I just had to unscrew the flathead screw (it's more like a flathead cross instead of philips), remove the holder with my fingers (no tool required), insert my MSI M450 Spatium SSD along with the holder piece at the same time, gently press the holder into place, apply the included thermal pad (peel the backing on both sides before applying), and screw the plate back down securely. I used a flathead screwdriver instead of the #1 Philips screwdriver included becuase I found it provided better fitment into the screw so as to not strip it. Finger tight will be more than enough though you could add some purple threadlocker for a semi-perminant installation.Once assembled, I plugged it into my computer via the USB-C port, navigated to Disk Management within Windows right clicked the unallocated storage and formatted the drive as well as applied a file-system. I chose ExFat for wider compatibility of operating systems (Linux and MacOS)(NTFS was the other file-system option which is meant for Windows). After that brief set-up my new NVMe enclosure was ready to use. I can't attest to the raw speeds as I lack a fast enough cable.

I've had really good luck with UGREEN stuff, and the previous NVMe enclosure I got from another brand was fiddly, with tiny screws and easily lost small parts. This system is superior -- the rubber clasp to keep the drive in place is integrated (and they send you a spare in case you lose the first one!), there are two layers of thermal paste instead of just one, and the external screw is chunky and low profile. Plus, I love the visual look -- the rubber bumper is simply a bonus. Definitely worth the money to make a fast and solid 1TB external drive.

Performance -- 10 GB per second on the dot, under optimal conditions for the drive (Samsung 980 Pro 2TB). Anything lesser is the drive's bottleneck, not the enclosure. I used a high-quality 3rd party USB C cable--my intent was to test the enclosure, not the cable.Build quality -- stellar. I'd say it would be hard to to better.Installation -- a minor pet peeve here that may or may not be relevant. The internal screw holding the end of the SSD opposite to the M.2 port is not a screw, but an allegedly more friendly plastic notch. I'd rather have had the usual screw. OK for one installation, what about reuse?Thermal -- seems OK, time will tell. Heat dissipation occurs by means of a (presumably) heat-conducive pad to apply between the SSD chips and the aluminum cover at installation time. The pad is adequately sticky to stay in place (think yellow stickies weak glue). It's easy and not messy to put in place and I would expect (did not try) easy enough to remove. Reuse? No idea. I'll give the benefit of the doubt, given the quality of everything else.Overall -- if I need another M.2 enclosure with USB 3.1 at 10GB/s I will be a repeat buyer. Worth every penny, perhaps more.
