My second review of these; the previous review was for the 30-day model and this is 10-day. Summary of previous: on-button needs improvement, instructions (single 4" by 6" sheet) need improvement and don't match performance, no settable alarm or any indication of , etc.New to this review: Provides "excel" format (CSV) output in addition to (nominally) PDF; not sure why you'd want a PDF output (a long series of date/time vs temperature numbers, pages on pages of them), but the "alarm" condition is not marked in the CSV file. And it turns out that the PDF file doesn't load into any PDF reader I have (Adobe, Firefox, some other off-brand ones); it is incorrectly formatted. So no way to check whether alarm is written to PDF. Another example of "almost, but not quite" engineering.

The first thing to know about this item is something that's already in the heading but which may not register. Each data logger may be used once for an approximately 10 day period. Once used they cannot be reset or the data messed with, although it can be downloaded.Using several in a room can help you identify hot and cold spots in an air conditioning or heating system. Placing one in a shipped package can tell you if the package has undergone extreme heat or cold in transit. Dropping one in your refrigerator or freezer can tell you if the unit is cycling or staying relatively stable in temperature. The value of the unit is the recording of data over time. The data loggers come with a useful card explaining what they are so that people do not tamper with them if found.

This is a cool device for one time applications. It allows you to start it, and then at the end of its run plug it in to a computer and download the data. I do wish that they could have made it resettable and allow for a new battery to be installed. That would have made it perfect in my book. But because it is a sealed unit, designed for one time use, it still serves a good purpose.

This is a data logger that basically flags when frozen products have gone above temperature. That's it. It is a single-use device that allegedly cannot be recycled or reused - which basically makes it disposable. It is also not a very solid item - it's basically a battery and a circuit board stuck between two self-adhesive pieces of plastic. So consider this for the future waste stream.

I'm impressed with this temperature data logger. Setting it up was straightforward – just press and hold the button, and it starts recording. After a ten-day shipment, plug it in, and the PDF and CSV reports were ready right away without needing extra software. The data was easy to read, and having both formats is useful for archiving and more analysis. The waterproofing held up well. Overall, it’s a reliable, convenient option for tracking temperatures accurately.

I put this in my freezer for one day and it produced a believable log of the temperatures over that period..You get 2 output files: a PDF and a CSV. The PDF is good for archiving the data securely for evidence while the CSV can be uploaded into Excel for additional data manipulation. The PDF contains a summary of the MIN., MAX., and AVERAGE temperatures. The times in the output are real dates and times. Some reviewers complained the PDF would not load into a reader but I had no difficulty loading it into an Acrobat reader. Some complained that it was not reusable, but I think that is the point of the device: to produce a secure record of the temperatures it encountered. I cannot comment on the accuracy of the measurements, but it does come with a Certificate of Calibration in PDF format. I do agree that it would be nice to be able to set the alarms, but MFR says they will make custom alarm settings.
