I purchased a used freezer and I needed something to track the temperature to make sure i had it set cold enough and that the temperature didn’t vary much. This logged the temps very well and really put my mind at ease. This is probably meant more for commercial use, but it gave me the info I needed.

I think I got it to work ok but it was very confusing figuring out the menu and what it does. It also only seems to read in Celsius unless I am looking at it wrong.

I too didn't realize this was a single use item, the title says it now that I read it again - so my fault there. This would be good if you're shipping a lot of product (or expensive product) somewhere and need to guaranty the temperature fluctuations were valid. Throwing it away when it got where it needed to go.The Instructions start by telling you it's disposable (step 1) and end with telling you that you must download the configuration software to "reprogramme the device" only before you start using it (step 8). To me that's not "reprogramming" that's "programming" no "re" about it since you can't reprogram it if it's been turned on. But, the problem is that step 4 tells you: "1) Start recording : Long press the start button" ... so your first one you're likely to ruin because Step 0 didn't tell you "read all instructions before performing any actions" like your old high school teacher gotcha quiz. The software is also windows only, which would have been good to know prior as well. It can semi-make sense, a lot of low level device development is done with Linux or Windows boxes, but setting some configurations on a product shouldn't need to compile software for the device, which would be the only real reason to require a specific OS be used. But they are "reprogramming" the chips apparently instead of just altering some eeprom configuration that should be able to be done with any OS and USB port.Like other said - it would be good for home use when away on vacation to know if there was a power failure - we had one on our last vacation and lost 3 refrigerators full of things not knowing what temperature they dropped to, but knowing that at least one had failed to turn back on. This was going to be a way to mitigate that but at $20/each for every vacation, We'll take the gamble.I gave it 4 stars because the use case it targets is valid if you can justify the price against the value of your product(s). But, the instructions leave a lot to be desired.

This tiny, THIN (1/4-in. thick) device simply makes no sense to me...and I'm a college-grad veteran recording engineer, who works daily with complex digital and AI devices. The lack of clear, simple instructions made me give up attempting set-up. Worse, it will become USELESS after 07/26, as that is the expiration date of the battery! (Lithium? It doesn't say, but the fire warning on the box sure makes me wonder.)I suspect these are made to be packed with shipments of perishables from overseas, to see if anything has warmed up too much on a long journey. Having arrived in port, I assume they're checked and then thrown away. The printed Product Introduction speaks of "warehouse storage and logistics cold chain." The illustration looks like a larger scientific instrument. However, it is NOT complete in itself. You are told that there is there is software to download BEFORE you start using (oops, too late, I already turned it on). Then, you stick the top of the unit into a USB port "and wait until PDF and CSV reports are generated."OK, I'm outa here. I'm not sticking any device that I'm not 100% certain of into my computer. I was only interested in keeping this in the fridge, to see if my food was unsafe after any (rare) power outage. My summary: Unless you own a massive cargo ship (in which case, you are probably familiar with this device), FORGET ABOUT IT. There MUST be better ways for a consumer to track temp variations at home than this.

I was trying to figure out if my freezer was working correctly and this little gadget came in handy.Leave it in overnight or a couple of days and you get all the data you need to see how the freezer behaves.

This will do what's described. It operates on a CR2032 non-changeable battery so when that's gone it's gone. I had hoped it charged via. USB for many uses. The USB provides a folder directory with the PDF file of your data collected over the span of time you measured. Nice format file, does the job and documents the temperature variations of your shipments. Just wish one could 'refurbish' it with a new CR2032 battery and use it many times.

We are often gone for weeks at a time. We also live in an area that has occasional power failures for sometimes more than a day. When we return I check these single use temp recorders I keep in the freezer and fridge to make sure the food was kept at the proper temperature while we were away. This one is pretty inexpensive, and therefore cheap insurance and information that your food is fine. Great five star item.
