I used one of these devices to create a remote temperature and humidity sensing station. I needed a sensor that was modbus compliant. I hooked it up to the USB port on a RasberryPi 4B, using the Waveshare USB to RS485 converter shown in the picture. The sensor is well made and easy to configure with DIP switches to set the modbus address so that you can use multiple sensors and other devices on the same modbus network. The documentation included with the sensor is superior to most supplied with electronics made in China and made the process quite easy. So far, the readings seem accurate. Seems worth the price. If you are new to working with modbus, search youtube for the Intrigued Engineer. He has a few good tutorials on how to create the software so that a RaspberryPi can communicate with a modbus device. Bottom line: more expensive than other but worth the money.

Relatively easy to set up and use. Included instructions list the registers that hold temperature and humidity values. Modbus address can be set using DIP switches and there is a screw terminal inside to terminate your power and RS485 wires. No issues noticed running for over a week. Correlates very closely with my other temperature sensors. The only drawback, if any, is the somewhat small LCD display.

Works great. I just wish there was an option to show Fahrenheit locally..

I was looking for an inexpensive and somewhat accurate method to monitor temperature and humidity in different parts of my house and transmit them over a 4-20mA signal so I send the signals to a PLC to monitor and control different systems. I had tries a different transmitter and found that it would jump around to much and to fast making it mostly unusable. This seems to be working for the moment and seems to be a decent value for the cost.
