I like the fact that it is light weight yet strong. I use it to haul totes filled with tools and coolers for outings!

To light . Wobbles around bad in the hitch reciever . Nothing is very good quality on it . Bought it to carry a small generator behind my camper. I dont trust it.

This cargo carrier was not “new” when it was delivered. It was obviously used. There were scrapes and marks all over it, including slide marks from where the hitch was slid into a receiver! There were no assembly instructions included and the hardware plastic bag packaging looked like it was hastily taped up and put inside. This is not an assembly project for someone who is not somewhat mechanically-inclined. The screw heads are soft and you must be very careful that you don’t strip them when tightening, especially if you use a powered driver. Because it is lightweight and reasonably priced I will not be seeking a refund. But, if I purchased this at a retailer, instead of on Amazon, I would bring it back to exchange for a new one.

Product came with zero instructions. It wasn't too difficult to assemble without instructions, but I am fairly handy. It may prove more difficult for others. The other problem is the bottom part of the basket came pretty banged up. I thought it was a used one at first. The side rail actually had a pretty big dent in it. It won't likely affect the usefulness of the unit, but it just shows some lack care for proper packaging. The unit seems like it will hold a decent amount of weight if distributed appropriately, but I worry about putting too much weight on either side will buckle the aluminum. Luckily our tent and chairs we plan to put on it for camping aren't super heavy.Haven't had it on the road trip yet. Will update if there are any more issues. If I had to purchase again, I would probably go for a steel basket even though it would be heavier.Update:First trip went fine. Carried everything we needed it to (a tent, camping chairs, and small cooler). Everything held up. Leaving at 2 stars for crappy packaging and lack of instructions.

I had none of the significant issues listed in other reviews. The hitch shaft was floating free, but reasonably separated from the cargo carrier by small pieces of cardboard that kept it from damaging the aluminum. No ugly holes. The machining of pre-drilled assembly holes in all parts was excellent. The assembly instructions were quite clear on the basic process - but could have helped out more with some "builder tips" on making it easier to put together. You'll see I do have a couple of minor complaints, but nothing that would make me detract form the rating. So far, it is exactly what it claims to be - a well-made, lightweight, hitch-mounted cargo carrier. The provided screws and self-locking nuts were quality built, but I admit were a little soft. Take a little care not to overcrank the phillips bit and damage the screw head. Once you get the 40+ screws nutted in, and 6 long-shafted bolts connecting the shelf to the hitch shaft, it feels really solid, but still very light and easy to handle. For assembly I used an 8mm combo wrench, a #2 phillips, a #3 phillips - long shaft, a 10mm combo wrench, and a 10mm socket wrench. There are a couple of things they could have said as tips to speed this along (took me about 90 minutes, by the way). The first step of installing the reflectors is made eaiser if you have a "prop" for the other side of the upper bar. Put the reflectors, small vertical supports, and center vertical supports on the INSIDE of the assembly, insert the screws from the outside, and put the nuts on the inside. The supports fit together with the shelf and upper bar in pretty tight tolerances, and keeping them on the inside really adds to the strength of the assembly. While it shows this on the exploded diagram, it's never explained. It's also much easier to assemble if you can elevate the work; I put it on an ottoman, and sat on the couch to build it. 40+ of little 8mm nuts and screws is tedious. I found just one goofy thing in the instructions, where they recommend placing the cargo shelf on top of the hitch shaft to install the 6 bolts that hold them together. It is way easier to flip the shelf upside down, put the shaft on top, and work the bolts with the 10mm combo and socket wrenches, and the #3 phillips when required. A little awkward, but not bad. Pretty solid when all finished. The only thing I'd recommend changing is the diameter of the 2 main bolts connecting the shelf to the hitch. Would have preferred to see 11mm or 12mm nuts there, but we'll see how it holds up.

Geta the job done!Light weight but amazingly strong...On this particular model and size it didn't come equipped as a folding unit so I purchased a optional folding shank adapter either at (Amazon/Ebay/Uhaul ect) to fold unit up when not being used. Plus it frees up more parking space and I have the convenience of not having to constantly attach and remove unit each time I use it...If you'd like purchase at least two locking bolt pins to deter theft of cargo carriage when using this optional folding shank adapter...I would have gave it 5stars if this model already came as a foldup.

Great price and the basket seems very sturdy. For those who own jeeps with a spare tire attached to the tailgate, I just trimmed a piece of the top of the rail and it worked great on my jeep TJ. I did plenty of research for a basket for my application and this is what I chose.

I use this with the 48 gallon Rubbermaid Action Packer and it works great. Allows me to easily transport stuff I don't want in the car. Even with the largest Action Packer there's probably another foot of usable space on either side of the tote for other stuff.

This carrier was packaged metal against metal, and because of that, arrived scraped, banged, dented and gouged. The steel bottom that holds the aluminum carrier and inserts into the vehicle hitch was packaged in the middle of the aluminum pieces (had to be assembled, which is fine), and since we ordered it for a last minute trip, we had no choice but to use it "as is" or cancel the trip. I was very disappointed, not with the carrier, but with receiving it looking like it had been used for years by an abusive owner. It was clear it had been previously sold and returned. Then it was sold to me without any repackaging or quality control.

Only 3 stars because it came damaged not enough to return it tho and because I needed it then, it wasn't the shipping because the box was fine it but the frame had a bent where I can see that it was hit somehow thought
