I bought this for my MFT gelding, who I'd been riding in a shorter shank broken mouthpiece. This is just a wee bit longer, and the bit itself solid, and has made a noticeable difference. My gelding LOVED to chomp on his old bit and grind his teeth. It wasn't nerves, kind of just a bad OCD habit. Well, he tried with the new bit and I think it was much less satisfying! The wonderful jangling noise was no longer LOL. On our second ride I didn't see him doing it at all, and head tossing was almost gone too. I found he had a nice gentle curve at his poll and the bit felt good through the reins. REALLY happy with this bit!

I bought this a year ago to try on a green-broke 16H 12 year old Tennessee Walker gelding that paces. Sorry, but it didn't magically make him gait well. He was actually confused because this bit has so many ways to cue the horse! Now recently, I bought a 14.2H 12 year old Tennessee Walker mare who came with a tom thumb "snaffle" that the owners said she had always been ridden in. She would gait well in that bit on a loose rein but any time I made contact with her mouth her head would pop up. She has stress issues, so I wanted to do head-down neck-stretching exercises that require gentle contact with the bit, not possible with that tom thumb. I tried a dog-bone loose-ring snaffle with a copper roller, with that I was able to make contact and get her head down. But then she would lean and snatch on the reins, since she was used to being ridden in a curb bit. I remembered that I had this bit in my bit pile and decided to give it a try, since it has so many options - direct rein, neck rein, lateral work, etc. After sitting around for a year it had absolutely no rust and was not squeaky in any of the joints. It seems to be the answer for her. She doesn't automatically pop up her head when I make contact with the bit for neck stretching exercises, and on trail I can ride with a loose rein and her gaits are all there. I like that I don't have to use bit guards because of the barrel shape of this bit, but it is wide and tends to shift to one side or the other in her mouth, although it doesn't seem to bother her. Keep in mind that my mare is a "pony" so on most 16H horses this bit would be perfect. Gaited horses tend to have wide mouths, thick cheeks, thick tongues, sensitive lips, low palates, etc. and are generally tricky to fit with bits correctly. If you have a 13H gaited pony and would like a bit with similar action, try Tough 1 Low Port with Antique Brown Cheeks, Stainless steel (and read my review of that one).

I tried this bit on my horse yesterday. I am transitioning from a broken bit to this...she seem to adapt to it well with no resistance. I put a curb chain on it also. She stopped on a dime when I pulled back, which she is very light in the mouth anyway. She really collected herself 10x better than the broken bit. Her gaits were on spot. I highly recommend this bit to anyone transitioning your horse to another bit. I’m happy!!!

Bought one for my Kentucky Mountain Pleasure Horse and he does very well with it. Bought another as a backup. It's a great knock off of the Brenda Imus bit but much less expensive. Update 10/23/17. The bit is breaking. I love the bit and how my horse responds. I have contacted the seller to see what we can do. Because the bit has lasted only a few months I'm taking this from 5 stars to 2 stars. Hopefully the breakage problem can be solved as I do not want to go to another bit but certainly don't want to buy one every six months. This is the first time I have had a bit break. I will keep this updated on what I find out. This is not the seller's fault, it is a manufacturing issue. The seller is great and has always shipped quickly.

As a Professional Trainer for almost 20 years I have never seen a bit make such an immediate "positive" difference in a horse. I have seen plenty have a negative impact for sure. After trying every "stock horse" bit in my tack room without success, I ordered this bit. Immediate results. The results are not because of "more" pressure, but because of how well the off-set design works in the mouth of a gated horse based on their somewhat unique anatomy. With the horse now comfortable, she instantly relaxed and responded very well. Shipping was prompt of course, bit seems very well made - 100% happy.

I'm not sure why this says it fits 4 1/2" to 5 1/2". I have a horse that should have a 5" bit. This is sloppy in his mouth. Basically it is a 5 1/2" bit and I can't get anyone to tell me how I am supposed to get it to fit my horse. It is not adjustable. Neither can they (manufacturer) tell me the concept of this bit - how I'm to fit it in my horses mouth since supposedly it should fit 4 1/2" to 5 1/2". All I hear is a repeat of the description. Can't answer any questions. I think he would like it if it fit. I may try some guards to take up some space but if that doesn't work then I won't be able to use this bit.

I bought this bit hoping to see a more relaxed horse and to bring out my horse's gait. He is a TWH. I'm sold. I've only used it once but have already had people whee I board tell me they had no idea my horse was gaited until our ride Saturday. I also saw more relaxation and less running through the bit. Love the bit and would recommend to anyone.

This is a copy of many similar type bits out there. All at much higher price, like 30-$40 more. This bit is just like those more expensive ones. The quality seems very good. And my horse seems to accept it and like it beter than the mild curb bit I was using. She stays in her gait better. So I think it does just what it claims in this respect. I would highly recommend.
