I noticed that when my son rushes his shots they are like rockets with no arc. After using the ring he now puts more arc into his rushed shots. It also evens out the stats between the driveway hoop and the gym hoop. Drive way hoops have a lot of give and allows shots in that would not happen on a gym hoop. Now I feel like if the shot goes in with the ring it will go in on a regulation hoop. The ring is the perfect size. Any smaller you would put too much arc and all your shots would have to be floaters which is unrealistic. A little tip with the install. Put a zip tie at the 2 ends and tighten it until it fits perfectly in the hoop. Then, cut the zip tie. We keep the ring on our hoop permanently. If you are looking to constantly remove it and add it then it might be painful.

It works and holds well. Very sturdy and comes with a clamp chain so if it does dislodge from your existing rim, it will not come down on your head and hurt you.How to install: As others say, put the two hook clamps on the front of the rim with the open end facing your existing rim where it connects to the backboard. Now you have to use some muscle and squeeze the metal ends together and clamp on the back hooks. I was able to clamp one on and then use both hands to clamp the other on. You have to put in some effort but that is what makes it so secure when it's completely connected. It felt secure as is but I decided to place some 50lb wire in the provided holes of the "shooter ring" and wrapped it around my existing rim. I used picture frame wire. It's flexible and has enough holding strength for the rim weight. I used the provided clamp ring and wire provided for the 3 hook clamp to secure the rim just in case it comes off.Now my son is able to practice his shooting and being softer on his layups. He finds that he needs more accuracy to make baskets and I feel confident it will help him in games and tournaments. I was looking into 16" rim reducers but I feel this 17" Shooter Ring is perfect.

I see some here had issues with the install hopefully my tip helps. Doing it this way will take you all of 10 min from open box to fully ready to use.First place the ring on top by putting the two “front” clips in place. Make sure the “back” clips are centered in the back(the open end) but they will not automatically rest in place.Next I recommend to have some work gloves on to protect your hands. The key is DON’T try to just pull the back clips over the rim to put in place (dang near impossible by hand). The key is to attempt to pull the two open ends as close as possible together (like you’re trying to make them touch AND THEN pull the clips forward to put them in place. It is much easier to put pull the back clips in place when you do it this way (took all of like 2 minutes once I figured this out..spent about 15 minutes before this trying to put the clips in place). Hope this helps, definitely a good buy! Now I just need to order a new net! Lol

Just put it on. The best information that I took from the reviews was regarding the install. Start from the front and set those two connections in place. When you get to the back use a screwdriver to leverage those connections in place.

This Shooter Ring IS very difficult to adhere to the rim. I have yet to be able to use this product and am seriously thinking about sending it back to the manufacturer. Great idea, but terribly hard to get it "set" on our rim. There has to be an easier was for this product to actually adhere to the rim, since I could only get 3 of the 4 pegs attached to the rim. Again, great idea, but terrible design. :(

The ring does exactly what it advertises. It is well made and durable. It is a tight fit to install-you have to install it according to the directions or it will not go on. Once it is in place, it is sturdy and safe. No worries about it coming off until you take it off. It comes off easily when you are ready to detach it. We take ours off for games and replace it for training/practice.

TLDR: Great tool. Sturdy. Need muscle for install. Helps with shot accuracy.I've played basketball my entire life and have always been a natural shooter. Most of the time, I'm playing 4 to 5 times a week with coworkers and friends, as well as men's leagues. Then the pandemic hit and that went to zero very quickly. As the pandemic wore on, I decided to purchase my first basketball goal and have definitely been enjoying the convenience. But...being competitive, I needed something to increase the challenge factor. In comes the rim reducer. The installation definitely took a little muscle, but I just used some woodworking clamps to keep pressure on the tabs you need to squeeze together to place the reducer on. Once in place, I removed the clamps slowly for fear of the thing ricochetting off the rim and cracking the backboard. After installation, it felt extremely sturdy and hasn't shown any signs of failure. It has only raised the height by a touch and reduces the rim's diameter from 18" to 17", but that change definitely affected my shot. (Add the slant of my driveway, and I'm at a pretty big disadvantage.) I've been able to pinpoint flaws and ways that I can be improving from floaters to baby hooks to deep range threes.I'm way past the age of going pro, but I'll definitely be excited when the world opens back up and I feel comfortable on the courts. I'm sure a normal hoop will feel enormous in comparison. I'd def recommend to anyone who has a decent shot and wants to fine-tune. The only reason I'd shy away from this is if the primary user is someone who is just figuring out their shot or has poor form. This may cause them to adjust too often to compensate and never find that muscle memory of what works for them.
