About this item

  • PERSONALIZE IT: These metal design stamps allow you to customize most soft metal components and add your own splash for all to see. Our stamps are made of hardened steel, for strength and a solid feel. They measure 3.125” in length, with a 0.25” base and stamp with a 5mm imprint. They emboss legible and clear, making for an attractive finish.
  • GET IT RIGHT: This 3-piece pack contains circles in 1.5mm, 3.2mm, and 4.8mm. Double check each round metal design stamp is facing the correct way when preparing to imprint. This helps to eliminate mistakes or upside-down disappointments! Hit it right every time by checking which way your stamp is facing to save on stamping metals.
  • MAKE AN IMPACT ON YOUR DESIGN: Our fun & whimsical design stamps are the perfect companion to our line of alphabet letters; number sets and punctuation kits. Use to put your own stamp on pet collars, Mother’s necklaces, or wedding favors. Create tailor-made medical ID bracelets or remembrance jewelry. Make metal memories such a camping trip token or an accomplishment pendant to remind you of how far you’ve come!
  • BEST METALS: The material you use will determine how well and clear your stamped image will appear. Use softer metals such as pewter, sterling silver, aluminum, brass, copper, and nickel silver for best results. NOT suited for stainless steel, hardware items or other hard metals. Though metal stamping is a great hobby for beginners, you’ll want to practice first. Try a few warmups on a scrap metal blank to get a feel for hammer strikes, placement, and the best technique for you.

Step 1 - Preparation

Pick a metal stamping blank that is large enough to accommodate the word you want to stamp and set up your work station with the necessary tools.

Step 2 - Holding Stamps

Hold stamp firmly with fingers in middle of stamp. Make sure to place it on your blank leaving room for the rest of the design!

Step 3 - One Nice Strike

Use a brass head mallet and give it one nice hard strike. This will ensure that the stamp leaves a good impression on the metal and is easy to read.

d

Step 4 - Repeat

Repeat steps 2 &3 to complete your design. Once it is done you can use a black marker to darken the impression and then wipe with a soft cloth.

Loved the images on these 3 stamps but I found they are hard to get a clear image with one strike of the hammer. You need a very heavy hammer to get a clear image. I maybe doing something wrong but my current thinking is I would not buy them again.

Really like them and they stamp very well and crisp. The only issue with stamps on a round post is that you can't tell the orientation of the stamp while holding itIt may be worth drawing on the top of the stamp or creating a small sticker so you know how the design will stamp based on how you are holding it

I'll be the first to admit that I am not a metal stamping expert and have only used these in a limited set of circumstances. That being said, I have been pretty happy with these. I think they are good for beginners. (I am not so much into letter and number stamping, but like to create patterns, so I bought quite a few little picture stamps.)My set-up is this: steel bench block, one pound brass-headed hammer, and copper blanks, usually something like 24 gauge. The copper blanks I buy are specifically designed for jewelry-making/stamping. I have not tried stamping other metal objects (keys or tools or whatever, although the product description does indicate that you should only stamp non-ferrous metals, so not iron or steel) but these stamps seem designed primarily for craft purposes, and they do work pretty well under my set-up. (I have not damaged the stamps or my hammer thus far.)There is not much to say about the shapes. They are circles. There are three different sizes. Being simple shapes, it is not too hard to get all the detail to show up on my blanks, even with my relative lack of experience. I am now experimenting with using Gilder's Paste to fill in the impressions made by the stamps for more contrast.I note that the product title says "circle punch set" but they are stamps, they don't make holes in the metal. Or at least, they certainly haven't made holes in metal in the circumstances in which I've used them.

Seems like the imprints are convex and only the middle actually marks the metal. Softer metals like aluminum work okay with this, but the impressions are very deep. Any other harder metal and I have to either hammer waaay to hard, or more than once, tilting it until the image is complete. Of course this usually results in less-than-great impressions. Maybe it's supposed to be this way, I am new to metal stamping, but my other kits are not like this, sooo yeah. I will try again with this company because they have a great selection of different prints, but I just hope the others are not the same way.
