The hook itself is fine and seems sturdy. I’m not sure why there is a spring at the end of it but it still seems like it won’t break. The main concern is the fact that one the box the manufacturer has started it is a potential carcinogen. Not sure which part that refers to but makes it a bit concerning

I got this to help clean out tree limbs from a pond. It works great. So much easier than swimming out and trying to drag them back to the bank. Just a quick flip and pull and done. Product is well made and the rope is surprisingly strong for a cheap grappling hook. Well worth the expense.

Before you use it change the rope , Almost lost it when the inside of the rope broke , Make sure you get 100 ft of strong rope , Overall it's fun finding things .

I have a 5 foot culvert that runs under my driveway. When the county put a larger culvert in up stream it opened up the flow and pushed all kinds of large tree limbs, old fence boards etc. after 20 years and fights with the township I had to do it my self. The grapple hook produce the best results. I hooked many things including 8 foot boards, branches etc. It worked so great I need another one.

bought one similar 25 yrs ago. It recently broke. Found this one looks identical. use it to tow small trailer, pull vines down from a tree, drag logs out, climb and more

Bought this after a disastrous afternoon that saw my small but mighty Yamaha outboard drowned in the marina. Water too turbid and weedy to see through, 20 feet too deep to dive effectively, and about 40 feet from the dock. This was the most economical choice on Amazon (can't seem to find a grappling hook in my local hardware stores). Long story short, it's like the thing had eyes. I was on it in two throws and hauled it up on the first try. It proceeded to gently place my outboard on the ground, flex its muscles, and then go hit on my wife. This grappling hook is the business, get one even if you don't need it.

It might rate a 5 after more use. Not sure of durability but material of construction solid and getting rope was a nice touch

It does the trick. Be careful what you are fishing for. It's hooks so well you can find yourself going in the water after the thing you were using to pull things out of the water with.

Only issue I have is that this item was listed under toys and I purchased it for my 7 year old son. He can't use it to play with as it is a real grappling hook.

I purchased this in hopes of using it as a light weight way to slow down while drift fishing or anchor my 19' key west boat on beach or in shallow water. Has exceeded my expectations by faround. I fish saltwater inshore rivers with heavy currents. It actually hold boat in thick mud bottom or slows it down for a nice drift along a shore line. And it only weighs A POUND! The rope is very nice with perfect amount of give. I'm buying another today. I also bought some 2ft and 1ft lengths of chain if I want to get a better hold. I don't know how long it'll last in the saltwater environment, but it's held up well this summer with just a little rust. At any rate if I only get one summer out of it its worth it. I'm buying another just so I have it if I need a replacement or extra one. Easy storage.
