This was a huge upgrade from the 30mm version. I enjoy thar svbony is able to provide identical items that bigger names charge higher prices for. My 30mm served me quite well. But I recently upgraded my tracking mount to a zwo am3. And those require a little more clarity from the guide scope than the 30mm could provide in able to get guiding accuracy to more acceptable levels. This 40mm has taken guiding accuracy from between 1-2" down to decimals. Rarely do I see guiding at or above 1" even with less than optimal seeing conditions. And I'm not knocking the 30mm verison of this at all. I just needed a little more for guiding accuracy.
