Its powerful and gets the job done. I put this in the tank and within the hour it was clear. I have no complaints and intend to buy again if I need to.

I have a number of large cichlid tanks, and they definitely all need high amounts of water flow-- and this filter pump was perfect at nearly 300 GPH for a fast but not overpowering current. It was pretty good at trapping waste and the ease of cleaning was definitely also a big plus. I would have no problem recommending the sculptor especially since it has a Venturi tube and this assists in oxygenation from surface agitation.

I purchased this pump for one particular aspect and that was that the intake is only at the bottom and not a long the sides like other filters. This way the water *has* to go through all of the filter. Perfect! My one issue is that the sponges included compressed under the flow. Like a spongy hockey puck. So it lost points for that since media sponges are kinda pricey for what they are and I definitely have to replace that. Other than that little issue, it's a great quality pump and easy to disassemble for cleaning.

Works as described although filter must be changed alot more than traditional waterfall filters. It plugs up easily and while it says up to 50 gallon i wouldn't recommend. More like for a 20 with only a few fish. Noise level is pretty quiet overall. In my clean tank i needed to clean filter after 2 weeks. Probably more often if you have a turtle or messy fish.

Filter works efficiently, better than expected. High quality and reasonably priced. Has a really strong suction doesn't have to even be used consistently.

This is a very powerful pump from what I've experienced with these filters. I definitely does the 320 gallons per minute and maybe even more. You do have to clean out the sponge regularly if you want to keep it working but it's probably better the cleaner the water. I had some pretty murky water so it may not be that way for everyone.A few recommendations: keep the pump fully submerged. I had the top part above water in order to get more air bubbles in the stream going back into the water and pump jammed up and probably almost broke (it was very hot). Since I've kept it submerged, it hasn't had a similar issue.I thought it would be easy to twist off the filter units from the pump while still in the water, but it's difficult, so I have to pull the entire unit out, which isn't horrible, but it's annoying. The suction cups work, but I've lost a couple doing this process. This is a great pump though. I found that the two sponges was redundant so I put some clay balls in one of the containers and that seems to be working well (the balls work as a surface area to colonize good bacteria to convert nitrogen into inert minerals. The double sponges work but I've found that one does the job fine.

What was good about this is the compact design and fit in the tank. I used it on a 55g and did a wonderful job for about a week then I started noticing that the flow was absent in it. I tried to removed the canister part in the tank and check it but I was not able too. I actually had to removed the whole unit. For an open top tank no problem but I run lids so it is just extra steps. Once I started pulling it out of the water the gunk started flowing out the bottom back into the water. Got it removed from the tank as fast as I could and took it over to the sink to see what the issue was. Opened it up and it had filled up with debris and collapsed the sponge making it not allow water to flow freely. Rinsed it out and actually recycled it as It was too much work putting it back in just to remove it a few days later. Also another not is that it did create a lot of micro bubbles in the tank that made it look cloudy. Not sure where the bubbles were from as I did not use the air attachment on it.Great for open top aquariums but not so much for lids.
