With Advanced Electronic Sensor Signals, this wall scanner can easily locate the edges and centers of wooden studs, metal beams, steel pipes, Live AC wires metal, floors and ceilings, etc.
Stud Scan Detection
Deep Scan scans through 2 layers of drywall up to 1.51 in. (38 mm) deep. Deep Scan is a higher sensitivity scanning mode that should be used when there are extra layers of wallboard or paneling.
To minimize false positives and/or finding other objects further behind the wall that may not be a stud, always start your scan in Stud Scan first.
Magnetic and Non-Magnetic Metal Scan
When the LCD screen appears "X", it means a non-magnetic metal is detected. And this wall stud finder can detect non-magnetic metal up to 80mm.
When the LCD screen appears no "X", it means that a magnetic metal is detected. The stud finder can detect magnetic metal up to 80mm.
Wire Warning Detection
Wire Warning detection indicates the presence of live, unshielded electrical wiring up to 2 inches (51 mm) deep. For Safety, in all modes, this wall scanner always detects and indicates the Live AC Wire.
Note: WireWarning Detection works in both StudScan / DeepScan / MetalScan Modes. The WireWarning Detection Icon will flash when live, unshielded wires are detected.
Step one：Choose the Mode
Press ON/OFF button to open the stud finder, and choose one mode that desired
Step two: Calibration the tool
After choose the mode, press and hold the scan button( on the side of the tool) to calibrate this tool.
Step three: Scan on the Wall
Move the stud finder along the wall slowly,but note that if shake or lift the scanner accidentally, the device needs to be re-calibrated.
Step four: Find the Location
When the signal bar is full and the beep alarm is loudest, it means you have found the center of an object.Mark it with your pencil.

Very usefull to plug some nails in the walls. Even for me the beginners it's easy to use also.
