According to the size chart my 10 y/o was right between a Youth M or Youth L, he was more in the mid to upper YM numbers and since this should be worn very form fitting, we opted for the small. Well, should have sized up. For example, the YM chest size on the size chart is 27-29.5 in, we measured him and he was a little over 28 inches -the same for all the other measurements and it ended up being too small.The pads look very thick in the pictures but I found them to be on the lighter side. Like any glove will keep your hand warm, but you don’t want to be making snowballs in some of them. - This might be great for a recreational player as opposed to a more competitive player.But the fabric is lightweight and breathable and the sleeveless design makes it comfortable to wear under his game and/or practice jersey. I would give it all the stars, but the unfortunate fit took one away.

This shirt is made from a high quality synthetic athletic material. It has padding in the chest and under the ribs for some protection. It’s tight and is made to go under your sports wear. Unfortunately the white material got stained in the wash on the very first wash. It doesn’t matter as it’s still is wearable but it didn’t last long.
