If you actually need ½ inch rod that is 12 inches long, buy it elsewhere. This is all metric and under the dimensions published in the listing. The rods I received were straight up 12mm rather than the 12.7mm they should have been and they were nearly a quarter of an inch short in length. As a machinist with a metal lathe I can always reduce the diameter of rod if it arrives over-sized but I can’t make it fatter when they fail to deliver what they advertise. I do not recommend this product as listed unless you aren’t concerned with undersized material.

I imagine like most people who buy rod stock that they are after a certain level of accuracy. Which is why I ordered this, basically, so I can report its accuracy.As described it is 25mm or 1 inch. The two are not possible as they are not the same.So after measuring, I can say it is 24.84mm in diameter.So it is less than 25mm, and quite smaller than an inch (an inch is 25.4mm).The uniformity is good. It measured less than 0.1mm of diameter variation across its length.The problem however remains. It is well below an inch if you are expecting it to be an inch. Any fit will be very poor. If you need 25mm diameter, it is not that close a fit either.If you just need bar stock you can turn down, it will be ok so long as you don't expect it to also do 1" or 25mm.When I buy stock, I try to buy the larger of the two that are close in metric or imperial. So I'd buy 1 inch and expect to have 1 inch diameter. Then if I need 25mm, I can turn down 0.4mm and that bar stock is good for both roles. If I wanted around 5/8", I'd buy 16mm as it's slightly bigger so I can turn it down to suit both 16mm and 5/8". This however is smaller than 25mm and way smaller than an inch so I can't use it in either role. I guess I can use it for 3/4", but I can get 3/4" stock too and not have to turn that down.So that leaves me with this rod that is large but I can't use it in its large form. So not a very handy diameter to use as general stock to keep around.For the price, to get a diameter that is mostly not usable in machining around that diameter is kind of pointless. Hence the three stars.If your needs are non critical and you aren't using this as general bar stock, then it is quite well made and usable.
