The SRAM Rival 22 11-speed Rear Derailleur may be a touch heavier than its Force and Red siblings, but it sacrifices nothing when it comes down to performance, dependability, or durability. Its competition-proven design ensures exacting shifting no matter what the conditions. SRAM's Exact Actuation technology is actually a hand-me-down from its mountain bike groupsets. It designates a 1:1 relationship between shifter cable travel and derailleur movement. This simple index shifting helps to simplify balancing derailleur hanger design, tight cog spacing and cable tension to ensure fast, efficient shifting. The derailleur moves through the entire range of shifting via a 3mm movement from gear to gear. The derailleur was constructed from aluminum inner and outer cages as well as b-knuckle. Although these are slightly heavier than the titanium hardware and carbon cages used in the Force and Red Groups, they retain structural integrity and ensure durability. The SRAM Rival 22 11-Speed Rear Derailleur is available in both a Short and Medium cage version. The Short cage has a maximum rear cog capacity of 28 teeth while the Medium is able to work with a 32t cog.

This replaced a similar SRAM derailleur that was a few years old. Easy to fit and changes gear very well, with a new chain fitted at the same time.

Vengo de un SRAM FORZE y lo he cambiado porque he puesto una corona máxima de 32 y es necesario cambiar la longitud de la pata de corta a media. Funciona igual pero con 50 euros menos

I've always liked my SRAM stuff and this guy is no different. It's not Force or Red, but it sure shifts nice.

Purchased to replace a trashed SRAM Rival 22 11-speed medium cage rear derailleur, wrecked in a low-speed crash. Even though I usually upgrade components when given the opportunity, I've been completely happy with the shifting & performance of this Rival hydraulic group set since I got it as an OEM take-off on eBay and didn't see any need to spend a few more bucks on a 22-speed Force rear derailleur. By way of comparison, I also have a mechanical Ultegra hydro bike and while the shifting is lighter/easier I find I prefer the SRAM hydro hood shapes as they do a good job of keeping my hands from coming off the front of the levers. And I don't find the extra effort required to shift to be particularly burdensome - in both cases, shifting works as expected, though I think Shimano Ultegra is a little slicker.Setup was easy. I adjusted the b-limit screw first, and then the high and low travel screws to visually match the position on the old derailleur and mounted it. My one gripe is that even after cutting the old cable carefully a few times, I was not able to get it through the derailleur cable routing hole without it causing the cable to fray and stick. I ended up having to run a brand new shift cable, a minor pain but easy enough when you're at home and you have a spare (that you can find). Once I tensioned the cable correctly, the derailleur shifts perfectly across all 11 cogs with no issue.

Factory fit. Smooth as the original. Never had a problem with the original until I got a tree trunk into my wheel and derailleur.

From my research it is compatible with the old 10 speed Rival 1 shift system. The reason is the ratio is 1:1 on the derailleur on both systems.Sure enough after I installed it, it works well.

I liked the product I didn’t think the documentation was very good. I’m using on my bike to shift gears on the rear cassette

Obviously, you pay a weight penalty with Rival, compared to Force and especially Red. You also don't get upgraded pulley bearings compared to Red. However, shifting is absolutely the equal of Force and Red. So, unless weight is a concern for you (it is for me, but this is for a winter bike), Rival is all you'll ever need.Weight wise, this came in at 187 grams on my scale. Which is perfectly fine and quite a bit lighter than some competitor's offerings.Setup is as easy as Shimano, which is to say it's something most people can do with their eyes closed.Functionally, I've yet to miss a shift. I have 2,500 miles on this particular derailleur.Overall, if you like SRAM and aren't counting grams, this rear derailleur is bombproof and functions perfectly.Recommended5 starsCheers!

It's working great. I went to a 11-32 rear cassette on a Specialized Roubaix, and this requires the mid-length derailleur rather than the short. The good thing about SRAM is that the spacing is the same, so it plugs right in to my 10-speed even though it is for the newer 11 speed systems. They also have the same spacing on both MTB and road bike systems, but 11-32 wouldn't be very beefy for an mtb system. Actually I wouldn't mind going even bigger on the road bike, but I'm old.
