Most of the endmill bits I buy I get for working on metal but these are specifically targeting wood only. As long as you stick to that I think you will be happy with these. They effectively clear the chips and leave a nice clean cut. The extra tall height is nice if you need to be cleaning up some sides or doing some deep work on non through holes. I haven't had any issues with them but haven't run a ton of hardwood yet to know exactly how long they last. Overall though they give me the exact finish I was looking for and given they are 1/4" shank would work in many routers as well.

I recently completed a project that involved a fairly large number of pieces to be cut out of some low-quality AC plywood. I used one of these bits for the entire project and it performed well and provided surprisingly smooth cuts in this rough material. I completed the entire project with a single bit, which included cutting through hard knots and it showed no signs of degraded cut quality and should be good for several more projects. You probably can find cheaper 1/4" bits, but based on my experience, I would say these are worth the cost due to the quality of the cut and that I expect these bits to be longer lasting than some of the lower cost options available.

The SpeTool 1/4-inch UP&Down Compression Bit produces a clean cut in Hard Maple wood. I use the bit to make one specific cut in musical instrument flutes. A single bit will last me for years. The bit is sharp and runs straight. I am 100% satisfied.

Used SpeTools bits before, they are always good quality, well made and cut well. And these are no exception. They are sharp and well made. Great for those that are beginners with a CNC, not too expensive to break. But, great for even a experienced user. You can't go wrong with any of their bits. Great product.

This is one of my most frequently used sizes of bits. It is fine enough to get into tight corners of a pattern, but big enough to "hog" out a fair amount of material. I like that these are solid carbide, and that there are 5 of these in the package, ensuring that they have long life and I can get a lot of work done.

I've used different SpeTool bits for my CNC machine and the quality of these SpeTool compression spiral bits are no exception! As like the other bits from SpeTool, these are made to last, and they work great. I mainly use hard woods on my CNC machine and these bits cut like butter! For their quality and price, I highly recommend them!

I own several router bits from SpeTool and they have all performed flawlessly. I enjoy woodworking as a hobby, so I'm not sure how well they hold up over extended periods of heavy use. Compared to straight bits the spiral bits are easier to control and have fewer issues with tear out during cuts. It is useful to have a bit that can perform plunge cuts with clean edges and bottom surfaces. So far the top surface has only required some sanding to make it smooth as well. All of the bits include a case to protect the cutting surfaces during transport.

Preliminary look only as I need to run these before giving a final review. This pack is cost efficient as you get 5 compression bits for a reasonable price. Each one comes with the typical protective case (which is a necessity, in my opinion). The shafts are polished to a fine degree. The cutting edges spiral up very precisely until they reverse about 1cm from the tip in the typical compression patterm. The blue nanocoating is there to shed heat and preserve blade life, but only a heavy CNC user who goes through a ton of bits is really going to be able to judge that.Cutting edges are consistently sharp and without any flaws. The tips are nice and pointy, quite sharp and well defined.
