My wife and I really needed a modern helmet. And this has all the things I wanted to protect my noggin. Only thing is that this helmet was made in 2021. Purchased in 2024. Explains the discount. The SMITH store should really be more clear on which helmets are out of model year. It’s really not clear and I had to go to their main website to get information on the helmets. Of note the other helmet different model (Payroll) was a 2023 manufacturer, so 1 years old. (The manufacture dates are always inside the helmet!)The fitment was good and c/w the sizing guidelines on the website. My wife is a small and I am a medium. But read the guidelines carefully and be careful to measure your head correctly of you may have problems, especially of your head is at the dreaded edge of the size range. Both of us feel that the helmet fits well and snuggly. The chin strap of this helmet didn’t adjusted well, but the strap adjustment of the other helmet was easier and more accurate- why are they different? On the Session it was hard to get the side front and rear straps correct. In fact they still aren’t truly correct. The visors are nice and do work to keep glare off of glasses.All in all my I like this helmet. The color is, well, different but the options for this older helmet were limited. Should have been my indication of the helmets model year age.The chin strap buckles may be difficult for anyone with arthritis. They are SO small and hard to squeeze.

I'm missing the padded pin for fastening the helmet, which is under the chin, but otherwise everything is OK!

The binding mechanism at the back is ridged and has sharpish protrusions above and below that lead to a very uncomfortable ride. When I asked Smith about this they fobbed me off with buy a wrap (they don't have anything) and gave no other insight. I will never buy another Smith product and will never recommend them.

Pros: MIPS, Color-swatch, amazon-primed/shipped quickly, sizing-chart correct/fits greatCons: VaporFit NAPE hurt the back of my neck after riding for a few hours and the chinstrap slid with not much force out of the boxSummary: I really like this helmet because the color matches my sway, it's MIPS, the venting works well, it fits underneath my Outdoor Research GTX, and my Smith Goggles match perfectly.The VaporFit NAPE (the part of the neck strap that secures the helmet) edges were sharp out of the box and hurt my neck! So I sanded them with a quarter and x-acto knife and resolved that issue and reinforced the chinstrap and stopped the sliding with a hair-tie.All-in-all, people compliment my helmet and it really does fit great and I hope I never test the MIPS protection that it offers but knowing I can go harder, makes me.
