Padding on this shorts is extremely minimal and I doubt would provide any protection. The cup is good and sits well but I wouldn’t overpay for padding and just get jocks or get a more padded shorts for protection if that’s the goal.

Ordered this for my son he has gone through two of these already in the kid sizes had to bump them up to the adult size. The only reason I had to buy a new one is because he outgrew it. Otherwise he had it for over year and it was still in really great condition. keeps the cup in place so that there’s no concern for injury .

Good quality product. Although the shorts are size S, the cup provided is large/medium. Please take a note of this before buying. I bought a cup seperately therefore as it was for my son.

Wear this when I referee ice hockey, it provides me with enough protection with lots of mobility.
