This is a great, inexpensive bit option to have in your tack trunk. Works well for horses that don’t like a broken mouthpiece. Good quality for the price! Also is sized appropriately.

I have a sensitive mouthed head shaking gelding (it's a lot I know!) I've tried almost every bit I can get my hands on and he LOVES this one. He's more willing to be bridled and is more accepting of the contact. Three peice bits are to much "noise" in his mouth for him. The port is just enough for tongue relief and the Mullen is quiet in his mouth. His head shaking while ridden has improved significantly as well.

Scratches easily but is overall nicely made. If your horse is a size 5", get 5". The manufacturer accounted for that you sometimes need to size up for a loose ring bit. That's why you see some reviews saying the bit is too big or bigger than they said.This all being mentioned, at first my drama queen gelding didn't like it. After another try he was like okay, this is alright and then, hey, not too bad. He tends to shove his bit to one side (soon as bridled). So it might not have pinched regardless but just to make sure I got bit guards for it. He can still stick his tongue out to the side (one of his quirks), so he doesn't mind it.

I.love.this.bit! Actually, my horse does, but that's not important in this review. Let's get down to it. My horse is a princess who doesn't like a single joint nor a multiple jointed bit in his mouth. He prefers to ride in the bitless bridle, which doesn't really get you far in the dressage ring before they disqualify you and read you some rule about not being allowed to show bitless since one of the things they judge is being "on the bit" and yadda yadda yadda. So, I had to get a different option, and I was pointed towards mullen mouths. This bit was fancy, dancy, and of course, I picked it because.. well, it's blue! I'm so glad that I'm vapid enough to pick a blue bit because this bit has done wonders for my boy. He's happy with it and brave enough that I'm no longer constantly fighting with him not to dive between his ankles or give a little to pressure or let me shorten my reigns one stinking inch without throwing his head in the air. HIGHLY recommend and will likely be buying another soon.

Didn’t work for my mare but it wasn’t the bits fault. Exactly as described, it’s going to hang around in the spare bit rack for now.

My horse really seems to be very comfortable in this bit. He has a tiny mouth and it’s not too wide for him.

I bought this bit because my horses was going best in a Mullen mouth, low port kimberwick, but I needed something for dressage. As far as I am aware, it is dressage legal, as the rules state that both low ports and alloys are allowed. My horse loves this bit! I'm not sure what it is exactly about it, but she accepts this better than anything I have ever used. It fits true to size and the quality has been great, too, especially considering the price.
