Self-Healing Clear Paint Protection Film Kits (Door Edge Protection Film 150" x 5/8") Made from Paint Protection Film (AKA PPF, or Clear Bra) This Door Edge Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a very durable, self-healing, 8 millimeter thick clear coated urethane film that helps preserve your vehicle's finish. PPF Protects Against Paint chips, abrasion and weathering--including stone chipping, door dings, and most types of environmental damage. Invisible When installed Our Door Edge Protection film is virtually invisible and clear-coated to help make it resistant to yellowing and staining. Once applied, no special care is required. The application is permanent. Installation Preparation We recommend cleaning the door surface before installation with a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water. After installation, wait 24 hours before taking your vehicle through a car wash. To help insure a successful install, we provide detailed installation videos. Frequently Asked Questions Can I use wax over Door Edge Protection Film? Yes. When waxing the vehicle, some wax may build up along the film edges. This can easily be removed when dry with a soft cloth. Do not use any waxes containing dyes or waxes that are not recommended for urethanes. Abrasive polishes and/or rubbing compounds are not to be used. How is Door Edge Protection Film removed? If desired, film can be removed at any time by picking up a corner of the film and pulling the film off the vehicle surface at a 90-degree angle. If the film has been present a long time, or if the film and vehicle are cold, a heat gun or hair dryer may be used to soften the adhesive and making it easier to remove the film. If any adhesive remains on the vehicle after removal of the film, it can be removed by using an auto body adhesive remover. If Door Edge Protection Film is removed from the vehicle, can it be re-used? No. Once the film has been applied and set, the adhesive will not stick a second time.

The instruction card that comes with it states you can install using a wet or dry method and then proceeds to give instructions for a wet install. Don't do a wet install, install dry. Their videos even say that dry install is now the preferred method. Also, do not peel the entire backer for the adhesive off at one time. As you install it you can pull a little of the backer off at a time so you can press it against the door a little at a time as you install. After you have the front side attached to the door gradually work it around to the back. I had this for a while before I installed it so they may have updated their instruction card in the meantime. Wish they sold slightly longer rolls, 150" wasn't enough to do both my truck and wife's SUV so had to order another roll.

I wish I would've gotten this sooner. It applied easily and looks like factory finish, enough to play with as well if you mess up.

The adhesion of this product is not good. Also bubbles easily. Not even worth returning.

If you've read any of these reviews, you've already heard this . . . but it is definitely worth repeating. It's all about the surface preparation. Get those door edges (inside and out) as squeaky clean as possible and take your time applying this protective material. Do that and I think you'll be happy with the results. By investing in some time cleaning the surfaces as well as I could, it made the installation of this clear, adhesive film super easy. Durability? Not so sure at this point but it's been two weeks now and it appears to be on there very solidly and there's no signs of wear, looseness, or discoloration (yellowing). Hardly noticeable at all. You have to know it's there and look for it to really see it. Cool!UPDATE: It's been nearly two months since I applied this protective film on my vehicle and they remain securely on there through many car washings, rainstorms, and constant exposure to the sun. No signs, to this point, of any yellowing or cracking.

This stuff is actually quite amazing! I just bought a brand new 2018 Camaro and when my friend opened the door to look inside he bumped the edge of my door against the truck next to my car. No damage done that time, but not got me thinking. I don’t want to ding up the doors on my new car. I didn’t want something that would stand out and make the car look bad. This is the answer! Almost invisible and extremely tough.

Note that I have not used or installed this product. My review is of the application process only. The film requires several steps of preparation to be successfully installed. Cleaning the edge of the car door with rubbing alcohol is easy enough. But you are also supposed to spray the film itself and the door with a solution that is neither identified nor included in the package I received with the product. Then you have to apply the film when the edge is still wet, and to heat the product itself and the edge of the door with a hairdryer for more secure application. I learned these things through a video that was not available on the website referenced in the installation guide, but is available on youtube.com. Would not have purchased, had I know of these steps. Will return and buy the 3M protective film instead.

Pretty slick. Take your time and make sure the surface is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Make sure to buy a small spray bottle (I went to a beauty supply store) and fill it with 25 percent iso alcohol and the rest water. Follow the directions included and it shouldn't be that hard. I found that the solution evaporates quickly so keep spraying it as you go. Also, the tape lays down nicer and is easier to work with if it is not stretched. Stretching should only be needed for curved areas. If the area is really curved it might not stick to the back side of the door though. Your finger should be able to get most bubbles out, but I used a small squeegee to put the finishing touches. Get the bubbles out as you go, or else it will be harder to get them out later when the glue starts to dry. I was able to do a good amount of all 4 doors of my GMC truck.
