Brand Information

SCHNECKE

  • Provider of Engine Oil Pressure Switch products to the worldwide OEM market and aftermarket.
  • SCHNECKE offers complete Engine Oil Pressure Switch coverage for Asian, Domestic and European vehicles.
  • A pressure switch warns about low, or depending on design and function, high pressure. It’s a device the driver or operator must be able to trust. False, erratic or incorrect warnings can lead to unnecessary repairs, or worse, damaging problems being ignored. Both reflect poorly on the engine manufacturer and may incur wa-rranty claims. That’s why it’s essential you use only proven, high-quality devices.
  • Our product catalog details many variants of pressure switch, but we understand the importance of optimizing design and performance for a specific application. That’s why at SCHNECKE Engineered Products we’re always happy to talk about customization. Almost every aspect of the design of our pressure switches can be tailored to suit the needs of our customers. From thread type and diameter to length, electrical connections, maximum temperature and packaging, it’s all open to discussion.
  • The pressure switch is small, but it performs a vital function. Don’t trust your reputation to unpredictable or inferior product: talk to us about a quality switch customized to your specific requirements.

Oil Pressure Switch Also Known As: Oil pressure sensor, oil sender, oil pressure sender, oil sensor, OPS

2

What It Does:

The Oil Pressure Switch reports the engine operating oil pressure either to the dash board light or gauge, and it may also report to the engines computer system for proper control of the engines other operating systems. The oil pressure switch may also contain a switch for the fuel pump electrical system. If the engine oil pressure should become too low during a period of operation, the switch will turn the fuel pump off to prevent extensive damage to the engines mechanical components.

3

Location:

The oil pressure switch will be located on the motor threaded into the engine block. Part location can be in many locations around the motor block, contact technical services for part location on your specific application.

4

Failure Symptoms:

Oil pressure light illumination, no start condition no fuel pump operation as the result of low oil pressure, no start condition no fuel pump operation as the result of a failed oil pressure switch, oil leak from the electrical connector or switch crimp area.

Junk, Wish I'd read the reviews before purchase. Almost ruined the motor, developed a leak after a week and car lost about a quart and a half of oil. Luckily I don't live far from work and caught it in time. STAY AWAY from this one.

Lasted about 3 days and started leaking oil from where the plug is. Replaced with one from local parts store and good to go. Don't try and save the 5 bucks go to the parts store for one.

Finally got around to install this part. Been on the car for about three weeks. This morning while driving on the highway I noticed a large amount of smoke coming from the rear of my vehicle. Exited, parked and noticed a large oil puddle forming under the car. It turns out that the oil was leaking from the oil pressure switch area and had begun to stop leaking after turning the car off. This leak was enormous and about the size of a grown man's pinky finger when vehicle was running. Turns out the sensor was not leaking from the threaded area but the oil was leaking from the harness plug itself. The oil sensor failed internally and rather than simply stop working and allow the ECM to throw a code it weakened to the point that the oil blew right through the sensor and was gushing from the harness plug where it connects to the vehicle wiring.I was about 60 miles from home and rather than pay a tow campany a massive fee for a tow I chose to fix it on the spot. Started work at about 8:30am and finally got it finshed at about 3:30pm. Intake, intake manifold, throttle body had to be removed in a 104 degree Texas June, walked to the Oreilly's about 2 miles away but not before begging a hardware store employee for water and a cooling off in their A/C.Oil sensor switch at Oreilly's was $26.99.Moral of the story and lesson learned: Don't be cheap on parts, especially critical components, and definately don't sacrifice half your day and possible personal safety over a $10 savings. Simply not worth it.I DO NOT recommend this product.

Well I installed the part I had wrote one review now I write another. This part only lasted 3 1/2 days. Didn’t know it was this part until I pulled over and I had no oil added oil then I seen the sensor shooting out oil everywhere and hitting the fan. I had put almost 8 quarts of oil to make it back home. I had stopped and got oil from Walmart. Expensive cheap part. But I still need a new one to get my car going. Will go to a part store to get another instead of online. Simpler to exchange and not as much wait time. I know even new parts can fail. Maybe a flaw in the design but either way disappointing to have to work to get it out and replace to get going again.
