I think the smell of the Pancho was too overwhelming for me. It sort of smells like gasoline or plastic. I did use it when it was pouring outside and it does work, but it made the smell even worst. Overall, it works, but the smell is unbearable.

I tried this poncho out today during a light rain storm. I live in Florida and it rains a lot. I walk my dog many times a day and sometimes need rain protection. On the good side, it definitely keeps the rain out and keeps you dry. The hood covers your head well, and the poncho covers much of my body and legs. It's a heavy fabric and a little too warm for Florida, but it would be good, providing warmth for use in other locations. On negative side, it was very difficult to get out of the packaging. It's taped up too much. Upon taking it out of the packaging and putting it on the first time, it reeked with a chemical smell. It was harsh. Even after taking it off, my arms smelled. I felt like it was getting me high, and not in a good way. Tonight I'm leaving it on my back porch with the hope that it will air out the smell. If the smell goes away, I'll use it. If not, I won't be able to tolerate it. I've bought many items over the years that initially have a chemical smell, but this was way stronger than normal.
