I'm glad I bought this as now I know exactly how to use my pepper spray cannister. This has about 9 shots in it and while I'd have loved more, I learned how to press the cannister, how much pressure is needed and most importantly what the spray does once it leaves the cannister. Good investment.

This was great really safe to use and train. It's small we'll fit. The design is just like a normal one practical size and color it doesn't make it pop too much. It's comfortable to hold comfortable size fits in my hands perfectly.

I got these for everyone to try out to get a feel for what its like and to learn to use them should they ever need to use a real one. Theyre cheap and fun to mess with. Just get the practice in in case you ever need to use a real one!

As most pepper spray today are a safer, gel formulation, practicing with a traditional liquid (contents are in fact water) does not provide the requisite practice company would have you believe it provides. The discharge is different.Sabre for their part do not plan to release a practice gel however, they will send you a label to send them defective devices directly.

Don’t buy and carry pepper spray until you practice with one of these water-filled units. I bought this for my wife along with the pepper canister. We used it until she understood effective distance, short vs. long spray intervals, and how to adjust for wind coming from behind an assailant. You do not want the wind blowing the real thing back into your eyes and face. You need to adjust to stand a bit to the side. Anyway, after a few minutes, she was accurate and comfortable using it. There was enough water left to have a laughing water fight. Enjoy. Remember, using this is serious business. Learn to carry your actual pepper spray in your hand when going from place to place. If you need it, you will not have time to retrieve from pocket or purse.Recommend this item.

Great to get hands on familiarity with operation. Takes a surprising amount of force to depress the button. Also good to have an idea of how much and how long these will spray. But realistically, these are priced so close to the regular (non inert) ones that might as well practice with the real thing.

MUST get this water spray canister if you plan on carrying pepper spray instead of a hand-gun (heck, even a hand-gun requires practice). Anyone carrying any weapon for self-defense should practice well beforehand, especially women who tend to be more frightened by assailants and are more susceptible to "freezing up", as statistics show, unfortunately.I got some pepper spray for my wife, as she was going to work in one of our country's dumb Commie-run states (CT and NY) and they ban EVERYTHING self defense there. The only thing she could carry and use was pepper spray, since it is (still) legal in all 50 States (so far, but just wait for the Dumbocrats to ban that too sometime in near future) In any case,.pepper spray is NOT as good as other self-defense weapons or tools (like a Tazer like the cops which is legal in most Rep-run States or a hand-gun), but pepper is better then nothing and all you can have in our stupidly run States. *sigh*Anyway, the #1 problem with pepper spray (and self-defense overall) is that you need SITUATIONAL AWARENESS (look up online and learn what that is and what you need to stay safe). Pepper spray is also not exactly easy to use, since you need to pull it out, ready the trigger, and spray IN THE ATTACKER'S EYES. If you spray the chest, get ready for a beatdown/rape/death by attacker. Pepper spray will not work unless sprayed right in the eyes!!! I saw a great article on women's personal safety here: [...]The point is: if you carry pepper spray and you do not have awareness of your surroundings (situational awareness), pepper spray is useless. The trick is to role-play and practice. That is same with a gun or any other self-defense weapon. Most women FREEZE when faced with attacker. Only way to prevent that is to be aware of any potential threat and to practice defense. It becomes natural with practice. Remember: the consequences of being un-prepared or un-aware of your surroundings and those around you are dire. And always remember: if attacked, you never, ever want to be in situation where the attacker tries to take you to a 2nd location (tries force you into car or tries to drag you inside a building or whatever). The death rate on cases where you are taken to a secondary location is over 90%. You want to fight if need be. Attackers only fear 2 things: arrest and/or being hurt. They prey on your fears. They are cowards and you often cannot talk them out of violence, since many do not even speak English anyway or are natural predators. The only hopes is escape (not always possible) or to fight/scare them off.So I got 2 cans of this Practice "pepper" spray. First, I had her spray a tree outside to see how far it goes, how it worked in wind, and distance Sabre pepper spray would work. She had to aim into a crack on street. This gave her an initial idea of how spray worked. Then I put on safety goggles and I had my wife walk around the house and I told her this is a parking garage and that I would "attack her" suddenly and without warning, so she had to think of me as a "potential attacker" when I was walking around that day doing all sorts of things. She kept the Practice canister in her pocket all day and kept an eye on me whenever I walked around or even past her.Suddenly, I came around, pretending to walk past her pretending to just come by to get a bottle of water, and charged her (she pulled out canister out of her pocket and readied it whenever she saw me walking by or heard me and kept spray on her closed fist - which is what you do whenever you see an unknown person that could be a threat). Remember, in this training scenario, I am a "random guy" walking/prowling around the street and she is alone - I had goggles on whole time, so she had no idea when I would "attack". Remember, the attacker will often use stealth or his element of surprise to come after you. You must be on guard when walking about and get that "gut feeling" something seems off. I also advise looking at age/race/ethnicity criminal statistics in your area and making sure you use those to get an idea of what potential attackers generally tend to be. Sounds mean, but if it means not getting raped/robbed - hey, your call. So, I charged the wife fast and she sprayed the daylight out of my eyes and face fast and accurately. She did right thing -she sprayed until I begged to stop. The real pepper spray works quickly IF a very good quality spray (Sabre or JPX) - others do not work as well. No need to "save" on the spray when being attacked - spray hard and non-stop. The goggles/eye area and my whole face were covered in water spray. She hit the target well (the eyes). Had this been pepper spray I would be screaming in agony by now. lolThen I dried up and did a 2nd attack again later in the day. She performed great again because she practiced. Then I told her to be prepared another day before her trip to NY and CT and she did well again. The point is that she did well as she practiced. She became comfortable with spray. She knew what to do.Have a husband or friend train with you at home. Pretend you are in parking garage at night or subway or whatever. I know it may sound silly, but it really helps to be prepared. Your safety is at stake. get these canister if considering using pepper spray as self-defense tool.Stay aware and stay safe! :)
