Quality of the seal is fine , if you swap out your gimble bearing on a mercruiser it’s 99% likely to be the new permalube (non greaseable) in which case this seal does nothing. Its original purpose was to just help hold any grease in from spraying out the front .

I think this particular item should come in with the repair kit for your gimbal bearing and bellows but it doesn't you have to buy it separately

The install tool is cheap and make installation easy. The hardest thing is to get the old one out. I used a 3/8 toggle bolt and ground off a little on the ends of the wings used a 3/8 x 12 inches threaded rod and a angle iron plate with a 7/16 hole drilled through to pull this out in about 1 minute. cost was $2 for toggle screw everything else I had sitting around.
