I hooked it up temporarily and tested it and it seemed to work fine. Then I buttoned it up and it smoked itself.

My HF winch never had a remote that worked reliably close or far so I got this one. It works every time and seems to have more than 50' range. It had no instructions but the wires had the same color code as when I hooked it up no smoke came out. Only one terminal fit properly but washers fixed the oversized ring terminals and had to change one Stakon from male to female. It didn't fit in the HF box until I cut off one mounting flange and melt grooves in the plastic so the wires didn't stick up. Don't know why the remotes have an on/off switch it arrived with both turned on so I doubt it draws current unless you push a button. Best thing is that it has a blue antenna wire, for better range; that I stuck out of the HF box.

Works great,wires were too short,had to splice more on to get it to the battery box but so nice not to have to drag the wire out and I can go to back of trlr and know when it's empty or move truck while dumping
