I don't know why this type of sensor is not more common. The ability to change from normally open to normally closed by changing one wire is brilliantly designed. The possibilities are bountiful with these sensors. Although they are lightweight, they feel solid and have good connections.If you are not familiar with the fantastic world of normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO) sensors, here's how it works. Normally closed (Black and White wires) means power flows through until you separate the sensor from the magnet. Normally open (Red and White wires) means no power can flow through until you connect the sensor to the magnet. The white wire always stays connected.

So much better than using small reed switches, especially the glass or plastic ones. Worth the extra cost to get rid of the frustrations of the cheaper ones, and these aren't finicky. And you know exactly where the target is. Highly recommended.

These were perfect... maybe better than perfect. While I needed "normally closed" (NC) for my purpose, it is nice to have the option of either NC or NO. Shipping was faster than promised. Quality met expectations... i.e., they worked!
