About this item

  • Improved Handling & Performance: Cross Tuned technology featuring exclusive rebound valving system and advanced compression phase improves overall handling and performance on and off road
  • Minimizes Rough Ride: Exclusive Progressive Engagement Valving is custom-tuned for each vehicle to help reduce initial impacts at low speeds and minimizes a rough ride
  • Strong & Durable: Features a 16mm nitro-carburized piston rod to resist scuffs & corrosion, double-welded loops at stress areas, 35mm sintered iron piston for enhanced structural integrity and polyvinyl protective boot
  • Handles Extreme Temperature Changes: Large twin-tube body filled with all-weather fluid allows for cooler operation, increased vehicle control and ability to withstand internal temperatures of -40 to 248°F
  • Vehicle Compatibility: This fits your 1997-2006 TJ / Wrangler with 0" Lift

The core of this new and innovative shock from Rancho is the unique and patented rebound valving system and an advanced compression phase of the shock absorber. This proprietary process developed by the ride engineers at Rancho will elevate the overall handling and performance of your vehicle on and off-road. Each RS5000X shock is gas pressurized to 150 PSI.* The twin tube, gas pressurized shock has a variety of advantages including minimizing air-to-oil mixture that can cause foaming and shock fade. Gas pressurization also provides a mild boost of spring rate to the vehicle. The RS5000X series features a 2-1/4-inch diameter shock body. A larger shock body allows for increased fluid capacity to operate cooler and to increase vehicle control and performance at varying speeds and terrains. The RS5000X series combines a larger shock body with all-weather fluid, allowing the shock to withstand internal temperatures between -40 and 248 degrees Fahrenheit. The Rancho RS5000X series design includes patented progressive rebound and compression discs. At lower speeds or in the earlier stages of the shock's travel, an eccentric disc in the valve shim stacks will engage the valving at lower frequencies, helping to control the energy of motion as the cycle of the shock increases or decreases in its action. When hitting a pothole, off-road trail obstacle or similar activity, Rancho's Progressive Engagement Valving allows for early flow of fluid, helping to reduce harsh initial impacts and to control the flow of fluid in a progressive, gradual manner through the valving. During on- or off-road driving activities like washboarding or when travelling a rough fire road, the early flow of fluid helps to minimize a "rough" ride as the piston movement is able to glide through the initial travel motion of the shock with minimal ground impact or force. If needed, the Progressive Engagement Valving will further engage to maintain control and stability.

These were a huge and obvious upgrade over the original shocks on my 98 tj. Highly recommend.

Installed front and rear Rancho RS5000X shocks on a 2004 Jeep TJ Wrangler replacing all 4 OEM shocks. Stock ride height. As others mention, removing the rear upper bolts is the only tricky part to the install. Be sure to spray with penetrating oil several days before and go slow. Otherwise the install was quick, and it rides a lot better.

I installed the product on my Jeep Wrangler tj, No problem what so ever. Vehicle rode better than it has in a long time. Thanks to Rancho for a great product.

My title says it all, great improvement over my worn out Skyjacker Hydro 7000's! Not the easiest installing because previous owner sucked! But these shocks are a great improvement!

I put these shocks on a 2001 jeep wrangler. The ride is better and I would recommend them. Two things that could be better: The paint is thin and easily scratched. Second would be the stickers, they look cheap and won't hold up. If you are installing these on a wrangler be sure to spray the top bolts of the rear shocks with pb blaster a couple days before you install. If you break those bolts you will not be happy.

Installed on my jeep TJ. They work very well and for the price you can’t go wrong. Jeep feels much better, handles the beat up southern Ca streets very well.

Great shocks. They made my Jeep ride smooth. They fit my 2006 Jeep Wrangler rubicon unlimited. Not ranchos fault but the rear shocks were imaginably difficult to replace. Had to pull the gas tank and inner fender wells out to cut rusty bolts that held the original shocks in place. These are definitely an upgrade from original for a good price. I have stock height in the rear and a 2in leveling spacer on the springs in the front. Ive had them for 2 months. Will update as they age.Update nearly 2 years after purchase. The shock are still holding up just new. If you’ve purchased ranchos before then you they can be a little stiff. These are, but the cost of upgrading just to the next best shock is easily $200 more for a kit of 4 shocks. Jeep is mostly used for joy riding very light trailing. Final verdict is, these are definitely worth the buy.
