- Open Type (No Designation Suffix) - Suitable for high-speed and even very high-speed operation.
- Shielded (Designation Suffix Z/ZZ) - High speed. Protect from dirt and debris.
- Sealed (Designation Suffix RS/2RS) - Made of sheet steel reinforced nitrile butadiene rubber (oil- and liquid-resistant). Lower limit speed than metal shield bearings.

These bearings are great and are reasonably priced for my needs. But I have difficulty finding steel shafts that fit them at my hardware store. Whether rods tend large or the bearing are sized tight, I don't know. Steel rods are cut with a chopper, so we can't try them in the store.

I’m trying to build a small hobby saw, using 1/8” rod, bearings, and couplings but these bearings are too small in the bore. If I sand down the rod, the couplings are loose. Been trying to ream out the bearing, but very frustrating!

Well made, high quality ball bearings.All metal materials, smooth rotation, a little bit of resistance so they don't free-spin too well, but its still smooth.Not much more to say really, they're ball bearings, they work. Get the right size.Overall I'm happy with them.

These HiPicco R3ZZ Deep Groove Ball Bearings seem to be well made and should work well for hobby purposes. They roll very smoothly, with no noticeable play. I'm using them with 3D printed parts where I need smoother operation than a friction fit. They are ferrous, so I would be concerned about rust if exposed to moisture, but they work perfectly for my purposes. I'm also glad they come in qualities like the 10 pack I got, so I can keep a few extras on hand for future projects.

We build a lot of projects with "axles". Robot projects, wheeled cages, dollies etc, and we are always putting threaded rods to use along with cheap pneumatic or sometimes solid wheels. These bearings are the perfect match for standard 3/4 rod and wheels with 3/4 shaft holes. As this is a common size, its easy to find parts to quickly cobble together solutions. We have even replaced the bearings in a few wheelbarrow wheels with these. Great to have around. The stuff we do is not high speed, so I can't comment on heat buildup, but the do seem smooth enough to 'guess' that they would handle high rpms ok. I just can't stake anything on it.
