Preamble to this review. First time elk hunter for 2019 and successful on a public unit with less than 20% success rate. This system worked like a charm. The bugle with the "blue reed system" (watch Primos videos, you'll know what I'm talking about...) is solid for bugles when you suck at a diaphragm call. The hoochie mama, aka push cow call, is also solid from my experience to stop a bull in its tracks and check out what's happening. We bagged our bull this last season thanks to the hoochie mama creating curiosity. Both the hoochie mama and bugle worked wonders!I'd say for someone that's learning and interested in elk, this is the bee's knees. If you're more interested in advanced techniques, grab a ton of diaphragm calls and learn like i'm doing right now for next season!!!Happy Hunting!

It was really funny watching my Dad try to figure this out without reading the instructions 🤣🤣 he couldn't get the bull call to work. I read the instructions and got it on my 1st try. He said "Looks like I have to take you elk hunting next year!" But after I explained how to do it he was out on the deck tootin' away on it until the neighbors came out and told him to shut up. 😂

This is a great starter pack and I would recommend it for anyone that is needing to get into calling elk. Once you start learning to use these different calls you can fine tune your personal preferences and use the types of calls you feel most comfortable with. I can say you won't outgrow any of these calls even if you decide you like one more than the other. One note I might add is about the Hoochie Mama. This call revolutionized elk calls and while it is amazing its success is also its downfall. If you live in an area that sees heavy pressure, the elk will recognize the sound of the call and may be less responsive. I can now recognize the sound of the hoochie mama in the field compared to an actual cow elk bleat.

Good little set, bugle aided in calling in 6 bulls in one day along with a different cow chirp. Did not come with the white mouth reed.

So...Honestly I think if I had it to do over again, I'd just buy the DVD and one of the top pin mouth calls. I can't get the hang of the bugle tube and the hoochie mama call is pretty worthless. They're not worth the extra $35 or so you have to pay for them.

All of these items are in my pack for elk hunting (except the dvd ;-)) I use the yellow mouth call and the hoochie the most. When I need a louder sound, I go for the blue/orange mouth call and/or the tube. And the dvd is very helpful for learning to use the blue mouth piece that is attached to the extendable bugle. We've called in dozens of bulls and cows with these calls each season.

Good starter kit. Learned pretty well on this setup - video and all. I use the mouth calls with the elk call instead of the rubber reed mounted on it. Get it if you want to learn how to call bulls, cows, and the young ones.
