I do a lot of wiring in the machine shop and at my house. I need the ability to measure RMS, amperage and voltage without having to physically cut into the cable or having access to the connectors. This clamp meter meter enables me to safely obtain accurate electrical readings on high voltage AC/DC cables. This is also a great multi-meter that reads AC/DC current, voltage, amperage, resistance, capacitance, and several other functions. The construction is solid and it is as accurate as any multi-meter that I have used.
This is a great multi-function electrical meter that I highly recommend.

Pros: Good feature set, intuitive to use, detachable probes, nice little accessory set.Cons: compared to homeowner / diy grade), none that I found. There are several cons compared to higher tier hobbyist/pro grade DMMs, but that's not really a fair comparison. So let's start with a first impression - it was really nice to have a small screwdriver included with the unit, so I could install the batteries without having to go find one. It's a nice little touch that makes a good impression. The case holds everything - voltage probes, temperature probe, manual, screwdriver and meter - with some space left over if you want to carry along a few batteries in case you need to swap them out in the middle of working on something. One of the things I appreciate about this DMM is the non-contact voltage tester. There's a little fin at the top of the current clamp. Set the meter to NCV, bring the fin near enough to an energized circuit and the meter will sound. It's sensitive enough that getting it very close, but not in contact with, the opening in a power outlet for a plug blade, will trigger it. I really like this feature because "trust but verify" is critical when working with even household voltages. While there are several ways to test for voltage after, say, turning off a breaker, a non-contact test is arguably one of the safest ones. Having that in a homeowner / light hobbyist class instrument is very nice indeed. It has some features that the average homeowner will likely never use, e.g. frequency measurement, duty factor, etc., but that's fine; and certainly all of the meter's features will find a use in one hobby or another.I also very much appreciate that the probes are replaceable. This is especially the case when working on, say, an old car checking the battery charging, and a cable slips into a belt or something and gets munged. After working with it for a little bit, I really only have two quibbles. One, the backlight doesn't stay on until turned off, and the turn-off period is a little on the short side, at least for me. Two, the temperature probe setting shows a temperature reading even when the temperature probe isn't plugged in.It's earned a place in my toolbox.
