If you need to find the center of a pipe and don’t mind a little “guestimation,” this might work for you. It does fine on smaller pipes, but if you try to go anywhere near that advertised 6-inch max, you’re basically balancing it like a circus act and hoping it doesn’t shift the second you strike it. The center punch isn’t exactly hardened steel, so after a few hits, it might start looking like it lost a fight with a sledgehammer. The built-in level and gauge are ok, but the magnets? Let’s just say they’re more of a “suggestion” than a firm hold. It’s useful for the occasional project but probably not the go-to choice for a pro who needs precision every time.

This is made of solid steel with heavy duty magnets. I've used many of these and this one is on par or better the rest. It's easy to use and can help you find nearly any angle on a pipe. This one is definitely more sturdy than my last one.

use this to set a TDC on a pipe and then you can make all your measurements precisely.on long pipes, i set TDC on both ends before working. on shorter pipes, i put a spot of paint to make finding the point fasteri have needed one for a long time, and finally bit the bullet and got the thing

This Pipe Center Finder was actually really helpful for drilling holes for weld bungs. The center punch worked well, and make a deep enough dimple to keep the bit from walking while drilling. The Bubble Level and gauge were accurate enough to keep all the holes aligned too.The allen wrench and screw is a little cumbersome when tightening or loosening the center punch though. A thumb screw would be much better. They could definately have used a stronger Magnet too. These magnets just barely kept the tool attached on carbon steel pipe. The price seems to be in line with others I looked at and other than those minor complaints, it's a pretty good tool.

This is not the top of the line center finder but I knew that going in from the price. The whole thing seems sturdy enough with parts of it more plastic than I would like if I were to use it more. I used this twice and it worked just fine both times. The first was on a brass pipe and it worked flawlessly. The second time was on a heavy iron pipe and it did make a mark exactly where it should have. The thing is that the punch started to slightly mushroom. That tells me that the punch and the pipe are probably have the same hardness. So if like me you use it once in a while this is something to get. As a professional, probably not. Overall I am happy I have it.

Did not work as it should. Center point is locked into place and is not adjustable.
