I used this engine leveler to remove a 426 hemi engine. I heeded the warnings and greased the threaded shaft, the bearings and everything that moved. I secured the handle also with thread locker. I used my own heavy chains instead of the ones supplied. It worked wonderfully, smooth as butter, even with this beast of an engine.

Didn’t end up using it because the links didn’t look good. To send it back was over 1/2 the price of the item. Not happy.

This leveler is a lot smaller than I had imagined but it definitely works and it will fit nicely in the toolbox instead of floating around the shop and possibly walking away. The included image shows the leveler supporting an entire Jeep Wrangler drivetrain (Pentastar 3.6L V6, aluminum everything). I'd estimate the motor at 400-500 lbs, about 250 for the transmission, and 75 for the t-case. Under full load the hand crank worked flawlessly until the chain reached such an angle that the handle would bottom out on it. Zipped the handle off and was actually able to spin the shaft by hand for most of it's length and then with a 21mm wrench. I only used one of the included chains but it held up just fine and even at a sharp angle there was no deformation of the end bracket. Very impressed with the performance of this little tool. For those who are curious, the JK and JKU wrangler frames have a tendency to diamond when impacted on either end of a frame rail. They just don't pull back so they get replaced more often than you'd think. A lot of chain body shops just don't understand this and instead attempt to repair them. I've replaced three that have been "repaired" by other shops. If you're buying a used one and feel a significant driveline vibration check to make sure the body bolts are vertical. If one side's bolts are angled (forward or back) that frame is done for.

Works just as advertised. Performed very well. I had a fairly light i6 engine to pull.
