This reflective triangle is DOT complaint and a must-have for automotive safety. However, I found that the plug that holds the sand in the weighted base is a little flimsy. I replaced it with a 1/2" PVC threaded pipe plug and it is now much sturdier.

I tested assembling one in my home and found the product felt like total junk including the box that houses them. The plastic has no durability, it sounded like it was breaking when I was trying to gently collapse and put away the triangle. Feels like the same plastic grade as disposable forks/spoons.

This Performance Tool W1498 Large Early Warning Roadside Emergency Reflective Triangle, 3 Pack with Case product is complete junk for this asking price. Are these really DOT approved? I doubt it. The triangle pieces are made out of the thinnest hard plastic I've seen in awhile. It so thin it is translucent. And these pieces are screwed in with metal screws. The chance of these breaking while in use is close to 100%.The base is heavy because it is full of sand. That is basically what you are buying - three cylinders full of sand and cheap plastic fold outs. The end caps are just popped on, so any minor force will pull them back off and sand will go everywhere.There are also several nasty pinch points on these triangles so be very careful where you are holding these as you attempt to unfold them. The razor sharp thin plastic will slice off your skin without you realizing what happened. It's an awful design.The case that holds these is absolute junk. It's cheaper than most packing materials. The lid on mine was broken on arrival. But really, just jostling around slightly in the box would break it so there is no surprise.I'd say you may get one good use out of these before you're going to have to toss them. These are practically disposable. I don't know why I am even giving this two stars - I guess because they might actually save your life if you have engine trouble on a dark night. But go look elsewhere; this is a garbage product that doesn't deserve your time.

First time I had to use them they were too flimsy and broke due to the wind. So now I’m in the market for something sturdier.

It sets up and takes down nicely, but the plastic feels like really cheap, brittle plastic like you would find dollar-store toys made from.It's a good warning device for the price if you want to keep something in your personal car or truck in case of emergencies.I bought it for a work truck that makes frequent service stops, and I'm worried that the plastic will break in regular use, let alone tumbling around in the truck.

Box arrived in good condition. 1 usable triangle has broken 'storage tabs', the remaining 2 triangles had ALL hinges broken. The container lid is split. Returned for refund.

Very solid and won't fall over with wind or passing trucks. Wanted it for my A class RV. I hope not to need them;but tried them just to see; and they are very solid and great. 10 stars
