Performance was great during my hike in very mudding terrain. Washed nicely in the machine. Lost a star because the tightener straps sometimes came loose at the top. It's easy and quick to fix, but wish there was a way to lock it down.

These gaiters are perfect for the outdoors. I use them hiking and cross-country skiing and they work wonderfully. I was happy to replace my old 30+ year gaiters that had the back velcro closing with these pair that have the front velcro closing. They are just a tad tall for short little old me but they are waterproof and secure which is all I need.

Purchased these for my trek up Kilimanjaro... And waited until after my trip to give a review. These are my very first pair of gaiters and these were very high quality. They have a large Velcro strip that you use to put them on over your pants and a small hook to hook them to your shoelace. I didn't know how to put them on but a quick YouTube search showed me how. They stood the test during my hike and they kept all of the dirt off my pants. The straps that go under the boot are made with leather and felt very secure while walking. To clean, I threw them in the washer with cold water and laid them out to dry. Great buy and will last a long time.

Bought these for use on the muddy (and usually rainy, but we got lucky) West Coast Trail. Kept my feet completely dry. A couple of times i stepped in water over my ankle and no water got in my boots at all. They also kept all the mud off my pants. I debated between these and the OR Crocodile gaiters (more expensive, more waterproof), but after using these I would say they are MORE than adequate. I love them and wish I had bought them sooner. I haven't tried them in snow but after stepping in deep water and keeping dry I would think these would work in snow as well.

I bought these gators to go hiking on a hunting trip. They fit well and we're very easy to put on. I hiked a lot in the snow and never had problems with snow getting in or the gators moving around. They also kept my lower legs warm.

I am sure these are great gaiters but if your calves are large at all fit is going to be a problem even if you size up. I had to send them back and went with snow pants which are not as versatile but will work for the winter.

I enjoy wintertime hiking, but going off-trail is usually a problem because of the unpredictable snow depths. I didn't want the bulk of a snowpant, and I didn't have the budget for ski/snowboarding pants. I had never really thought to use gaiters, but my sister recommended them, and they ended up fitting my needs and budget perfectly! I was a little nervous to try because the front closure is all Velcro, but to my surprise, it's an excellent seal. When I go off trail, I've been in snow above my knees, but none of the snow got inside. The material is sturdy, and provide another layer of warmth on your calves, as well as protection from the elements and brush/branches, when you're off-trail. They have a hook at the top of the foot for boots that have gaiter eyelets, and the bottom strap is long enough to accomodate my YakTrax, as well. The bottoms are sinched by a very tight-yet-flexible elastic band, and the top is sinched by an adjustible toggle buckle. I'm super impressed. I wear ankle boots, hiking socks, a base layer, and cotton lined athletic pants, and they fit perfectly, so there'd be room to wear something bulkier like jeans or mid-calf trail/hiking boots, or even streamlined snowboots. As far as I'm concerned, they paid for themselves my very first time wearing them! LOVE!

These gaiters are great quality, with strong fabric and velcro closure. The leather strap held up well over a two-week backpacking trip over rocky, sometimes wet territory. I am a petite female (5'3" tall), that wears a size 7.5 in shoes, but I have extremely muscular calves (13.5" at widest point). Initially I ordered size Small, but they fit so closely to my calves that I would have had a hard time climbing on unsteady terrain and layering would have been impossible. I ordered size Medium and found that they fit well with two layers of thin hiking pants and a thick pair of wool socks. They cover me entirely from foot to knee (any higher and they would have been too long for me). Conclusion: Medium works for 5'3" female with 13.5" calves. If your legs are on the shorter side (and/or you have smaller calves), the Small would be a better option.
