I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. I got it because I will be changing a few hoses and they can be hard to get off. It's about 25 degrees here in Michigan so I am going to wait until it warms up a bit.

Needed to remove a 2" inlet hose on a boat macerator pump. Did not want to cut the hose as I did not have enough remaining length to secure both ends. Was skeptical that tool might puncture the hose but it didn't. This tool saved a day of frustration.

It is a good tool for removing hoses on my truck. I used it for vacuum hoses and it worked easily at removing them. A good buy.

I didn't even know a tool like this existed, relying on screwdrivers for years (and gouging several hoses along the way). The design of this tool is excellent, with an offset bend, it really works nicely in terms of pulling it around the circumference of the pipe/hose once properly inserted (do be carefully with initial insertion as the tip is very sharp, and necessarily so to break old seals).

Replacing the radiator hoses on my pickup I decided they might fight so, right tool for the job. This works great in breaking the seal of the hose to the water pump or radiator and allows for easy removal. My hoses were tight to the pump and radiator so not much room, no matter, this tool worked itself in and freed the hose up! Word of caution if working on a hose that will be reused be careful not to have the point puncture the hose, it is sharp! Great addition to my toolbox, Thanks!

This tool simply rocks. I always struggle with hoses that were stuck on water pumps, thermostat housings and everything in between. It seems no matter what, the hoses stick on like they were glued in place. This thing removes the hose every time. The shape of the hook works very well at separating the hose from the any neck it is on and I am able to get around the entire neck most of the time with the way the thing is angled. The only downside - you may not always be able to re-use the hose every time. The sharp point does allow you to get in between the hose and neck it is attached to, but because the sharp tip allows for that to occur, it will also pierce the hose without much effort if you start lifting the hose away from the neck with the tool. Don't use it as a pry tool in the hose or you will poke through the hose every time.I did damage one hose to the point I couldn't use it again because of the sharp tip, but the time and aggravation saved working on an old truck and family vehicles is WELL WORTH damaging the one hose. The simple fact that I didn't up with bloody knuckles from the hose flying off from my hand jamming against the engine when the hose finally dislodged from the tug of war and tools flying down the street after the cussing fit was well worth it to me.

Great tool for those darn hoses!!! it looks very menacing but gets the job done will. I don't think I could have pried open my hose without a tool like this one since it was in such a confined space and my hose felt like it was super glued onto the fitting. The price for this thing is very good considering it saved me from lots of frustration. There was one hose I had to take off that was on a plastic fitting that just glided right out without much effort, so make sure your hose require prying before you buy this tool, but this tool is great for those who work on cars a lot. For me I just needed it for a one time use that I think well worth it's small price.

This is one of those tools, that is inexpensive, and so simple to use, that anyone who deals with hoses on barbed fittings should have one. There's not much to it, just a handle, attatched to a steel hook. The hook is sharp enough, to wiggle between the hose and the fitting, and break it loose, if it gets 'glued' to the fitting, and the bigger the hose, the better it works, it seems to be made for radiatior hoses, although so far, it has worked on any hose I have tried it on.One word of caution, the end is sharp, which it has to be, in order to get under a hose tight on a fitting, so pay attention to the angle of the hook as you are using it, so it does not pierce the hose if you intend to reuse it. With any amount of caution, this shouldn't be a problem, but it does bear mentioning. I might also add, the 'twist' of the hook, is suited for right handed people, if you have a hose you can only reach with your left hand, or if you were born left handed, it will require more caution to use. I have found it will still work, but you need extra care to be sure the point stays between the hose and fitting. It seems to be built fairly sturdy, so far so good, the hook seems to be made of good quality steel. About the only potential problem might be the hook pulling out of the handle, but so far, it has stayed tight. Time will tell, if it ever works loose. After using it to remove the radiator hoses on my truck, my first thought was 'why didn't I think of that'. Instead of wrestling with the hoses, they popped right off.-edit-After using this tool more and more, I raised the rating to 5-star. I was uncertain how strong this tool would be, or how it would hold up to hard use. I was working on an agricultural sprayer, which has 2 inch hoses rated for 150 PSI, which makes a radiator hose seem flimsy. Anyway, the hoses were rusted onto steel hose barbs, and without this tool I am positive I would have just cut the hose off just past the end of the hose barb, and removed the little piece off the barb any way I could, leaving me with a hose a couple inches too short. With care not to poke the hose, I worked the hook between the hose and barb, squirted soapy water in between (WD-40 works well for that, also), moved a quarter turn from where I started, and did it again. By the time I worked my way around the hose, it broke loose, and came right off. I pulled about as hard as I could, didn't bend the hook part, and it stayed securely in the handle. I have now sworn off my 'old' method of hose removal, which was using a small screwdriver to pry the hose loose, and can say that the more I use this tool, the more I figure out the exact angle to hold it, and the better it works. The handle can get a little slick if you get oil or anti-freeze on it, but cleans up much easier than if it were rubbery or deeply textured. Fortunately, it is shaped so it doesn't slip easily.
