Works amazing for 55 gallon Ugly Drum Smokers. No other heat shield needed. Ad a stainless steel pan underneath to catch the ash, throw in some natural clay Kitty litter under that and your drum will stay amazingly clean.

Since Vision grills has been out of fireboxes forever, I bought this and put it in my classic. Works great, takes a little getting used to. I needed to adjust airflow because it gets a lot more in the Kamamdo. It's much shorter than the Vision firebox, so I also bought a second level grate that gets the meat up about where the previous grate sat.

Completely replaced the original rusted out fire bowl and added ceramic fire bricks to really hold in that heat.

My ceramic fire bowl for my vision pro s series grill crack and for months I waited for a replacement to no avail. The original fire bowls have been on backorder for as long as I have tried to find one so I finally gave up. I thought I was going to have to buy a metal replacement knowing that wouldn't provide the same temperature control or protection to the outer ceramic exterior. Finally this charcoal firebox set was available and it fits! The grill sits a little lower than with the original but the second tier rack insert that came with my grill lines right up to the original distance. Honestly I think I a use another tier now and have three racks! This firebox set is actually easier to remove than the original as well, you just remove each insert and then lift the basket out instead of having to lift one heavy bowl. Highly recommend even if you don't need as a replacement! Also, the gaps at the bottom of the basket allow for the ash tray to slide underneath the basket.

Fit an Old Vision grill kamado well (b series). Just not high enough for the cooking grate so need to put some spacer. Been cooking only a pork butt for now, hold temperature very well. Very good option for the ceramic bowl that are no longer available!

i love this item! i have a vision grill with a ceramic firebox. I i replaced the heavy bulky one with this it works great.i needed to raise it with two patio blocks at the bottom and it fit perfect. good job amazon.

Excellent upgrade for my 18" Kamodo Joe classic 2. Makes cleaning and cooking a whole lot easier. No more struggling trying to reassemble the ceramic bowl pieces after cleaning just slides in and out and the ring and all original parts fir perfectly.

Taking into consideration the comments of the owners who are not satisfied with the changings in the aerodynamics of the airflow and the convenience of holding the stones by SS mesh , I decided to try to install the stones in a standard firebox. it almost fit perfectly. I think in the case of the future I want to fit them perfectly, I can just grind them on the concrete surface, giving them any shape. Its a clay. So far, everything is fine. I have used the updated firefox twice so far and have not noticed any significant changes. I think I'll add to this review later

I bought this thinking it would be an improvement to my Akorn, it is not. The fact the fire bowl needs to be removed its a loss. I have done heat retention tests and surprisingly the original fire box does better than the ceramics. An improvement would have been the grate would fit inside the fire bowl even if some spaced is lost similarly to what Kamado Joe does.To make things worse, the basket does not properly sits, two of the legs will sit but a third one will always fall outside. No matter how careful I tried it is not possible for the basket to sit properly given the angle of the steel legs. This causes the charcoal basket to be slightly inclined which is not good for heat convection. This annoyed me.Overall the ceramics seem to be decent quality and good width for heat retention but I was surprised how quickly charcoal is consumed vs the fire box all things being the same. I would have thought the opposite would be true but its not the case. Maybe because of the difference in height between the fire box and the ceramics.Not sure if I will use, not worth the expense I think.
