Far superior to the shimano clamp for steel frames. The shimano clamp relies on plastic shims to fit skinny steel tubes, and it’s just not a good design. There is too much play, leading to a lot of variation in how the front derailleur can be mounted making it difficult to set up correctly. This mount fits perfectly and is nice and tall, so it stays perfectly aligned. It also has a nice big flat section for the support bolt to press up against, something a lot of mounts lack. I could never get the original shimano mount to shift right and I had perfect shifting the first time I used this mount. Highly recommend.
