item arrived quickly, packaged well and coated well with rust preventative. excellent product for the price point. Not something I need a lot, but when I do, it's the best option.

I was pleased that this arrived within the estimated time, and then I wasn't pleased when I opened it. It was packaged in plastic with oil but about 20 years too late. The finish is stained and pitted from old rust that was removed, the center hole is corroded beyond use. I thought I was ordering a new part. No problem though, I got $0.09 for it at the scrapyard that I will apply toward a NEW part.

For an inexpensive center, mine is just great. Checking it in the headstock shows the same half thou or so runout that the headstock spindle bearing exhibits. (Yeah I've got to try resetting the bearing take up when it warms up a bit.) I couldn't get a reading off my genuine antique Rockwell tester. It's only 40 in the shop and the tester is responding way too slow. Maybe lube getting a bit thick but the thing is really heavy for my 80 year old back to lug into the house to warm up. The important thing is this center hasn't scratched or dinged up with just normal use so I'm guessing its not made out of cheap steel.Dave

Used it to align my head and tail stock on my lathe. Works fine for that.

Fantastic investment for a mini lathe. Used in the spindle bore on my 7x10 after converting to a 14" bed (actually 6" longer as the 10" is a marketing lie). Coupled with a couple other tools, was able to make the headstock, carriage, and tailstock all align within. 005" across the whole bed, which could just be due to the rod I was using to align it (1/2" piece of cold rolled 4130, not precision ground though). Would work well for anyone who has a MT3 tailstock as well.
