my daughter is a size 6 for reference and we got size 8 for her thinking she could wear it next year as she has tons of clothes already for this year. turns out these fit her just fine now and she does currently wear a size 6 and is thin/average for her age. i was surprised how well they looked and fit they literally look great and are just a bit loose around the waist but not enough to fall down or anything-meaning she probably will still be able to wear these next year too. so if youd like your kid to wear them now and next year too id say size one size up. would definitely recommend tho the material is fresh and perfect for water stuff. quick dry.

These are high-quality shorts made of quick-dry fabric, perfect to wear over a swimsuit. I ordered a size 12 for my 11-year-old (who's small for her age) and they are about an inch too wide for her waist so she'll have to grow into them. The tie in the waistband is more for aesthetics than it is for functionality because we're not able to make the waist any smaller. I wish they had an inner liner because then they could double as swim bottoms, not just worn over a swimsuit. Overall, very nice swim shorts from a time-tested reputable brand.

I purchased and returned 3+ swim bottoms before finding these! My daughter loves them! She has always opted to wear swim bottoms over her swimwear and these are super comfortable and the perfect color for many of her swimsuits. Fit is true to size! The material is pretty thin and see through when wet, so would certainly recommend wearing as a cover, not by itself.

My daughter likes to wear swim shorts in the summer time to places like the splash pads at the playground or if she’s running around in the sprinkler in the yard etc so I knew she’d like these bottoms and I was right! They fit her well but they are very short. I understand they are swim bottoms but I feel the whole point of wearing shorts instead of regular swim bottoms is to prevent anything private from showing and these short swim shorts kind of defeat that purpose, in my opinion. They are made well and have a good liner inside. They dry quickly, fit well and she says they are comfortable enough.

I really really love the quality of the O’Neill clothes. I wore this surfer brand back in the day when I had a smokin hot little bod and so there’s an element of nostalgia here for me. My itty bitty daughter looks like she’s 7 but she’s actually 12, and these shorts look great on her. It’s winter at the moment, but this summer she will rock these all the time. Fantastic quality and they fit great with room to grow.

I ordered these shorts in size 6 for my daughter to wear next summer. She is currently 45" 44 lb and wearing a 5T in other clothing, and these shorts are already very tight on her waist. She is even built rather slim. The band has very wide and bunched up elastic. The tag on the back of the shorts is even all wrinkled up because of how its pulled so tight. The leg area fits fine even though the material doesnt have much stretch. The stitching looks good, and my daughter loves the mint green color. With the high price for a big name, I would have expected a much better fit. Because of the horrible value (considering the poor fit and price) I gave these a 2 instead of the 3 they would have gotten at a more resonable cost. It is disappointing that these seem too small/uncomfortable for her to wear. I would order a size up if you choose to get these shorts for your little girl.
